I'm a little disappointed he was simply released. He's still pretty talented and I would've liked to see him stashed at AAA while they keep working with him.

And we don't know what his contract said. There was twitter buzz yesterday that they called him up because of contract obligations. It may have been a minimum number of starts by a certain date, or they'd release him. And I don't think anyone wanted to see another start from him.

Just released. Thanks for sucking to make the win better in the end. Team guy.

And for allowing me to see Jake pitch on Saturday. He was the only starter I didn't see in Chicago last year.

:| and I have to see Lester again . . . he better not suck this time!

I'm going on Saturday as well. I went for premium seats behind home plate.

Is there a place to see the projected rotation through the Cubs @ Rockies?

I just go to ESPN and extrapolate what they've got. That series looks like Hammel-Lackey-Lester.

I went behind the A's dugout for both games, 11 rows up on Saturday and 22 on Sunday.

If Nova Scotia Balloon Bingo wants my support, they're going to have to pay for it.

That's how far out I have it going. That comes from what I scrape from MLB

I think I'm going on Friday also, on the third base side.

I wouldn't mind seeing him start for the opposing team.

I paid less for seats right behind the Cubs dugout than I did for upper deck at PacBell. I love the A's!

During the broadcast, espn said he had to be recalled by today or granted FA.

New market inefficiency: Call up pitchers and have them get completely shelled to the point that no other team in their right mind would want them, so you can pass them through waivers.

I know we were all like "horsefeathers you matusz good riddance" but I'm genuinely glad he's still in the org after they reported they found a flaw in his mechanics. His contract situation is why he came up so abruptly and if he's gonna get fixed its gonna take more time than 5 or 6 minor league starts to do so. Edited by The Logan

I agree. Let him work on things in the minors the rest of the season, and lets see what he looks like in spring training.

Matusz is a free agent after the season. He obviously won't be in high demand, but it's hard to have a ton of optimism about him as a future contributor because it's extremely unlikely he'll be under team control for more than year.
