I'm laughing so much over this James Shields start

Boy did we catch a break not picking this dude up in the past few years

Speaking of, Anibal Sanchez recently got demoted to the bullpen and has a 5.41 ERA over his previous 37 appearances (36 starts).

It's a shame Hawk's not there to call it.

True. But this new guy actually makes the white Sox watchable.

I wonder if their fans are still pissed we're getting more pub than they are?

maybe theyll start a new thread about how many articles are up about them in the tribune tomorrow

Maybe they'll create a subforum to focus on irrationally hating the Cubs

Oh wait

2 straight starts by Shields that have ended with a position player on the mound.

Moving to the cell is probably not the elixir Shields needed to cure his homer-itis.

I was in Cincinnati for an event and watched the Reds play the Cardinals on Tuesday. It was funny watching Billy Hamilton get 3 hits off them including a home run off Mike Leake I couldn't stop laughing about that. The Reds were up 6-1 in the 8th inning and I was like even the Reds bullpen can't blow this lead boy was I wrong about that. But thanks to Joey Votto hitting a walk off home run we all got to enjoy watching all the Cardinal fans leave very unhappy.

The Royals have lost their last 5 games by at least 5 runs each.

The Cubs have lost 4 games this season by 5 runs or more.

3 runs or more, actually. 3 times by 5 runs or more.

The thought of Billy Hamilton hitting a dong breaks my brain.

He has such an intense "Play by Play Guy Voice"

How did I not know until today that Shields is Aaron Rowand's cousin? I knew there was a reason I never liked Shields.

5.06 ERA, 76 ERA+ for Shields. Great trade. Don't book the ASG flight too fast now.

So glad Ricketts didn't go after Hahn way back when.

One more Shields note I saw.

The catcher who has caught the most innings of Shields career? Dioner Navarro. Hey the White Sox have Navarro. The starting catching last night? Avila. Not a big deal but you'd think, first start with a new team against a very good offensive club after having a terrible result his last time out, you'd want to give him as much familiarity and comfort as possible. Both catchers have been garbage at the plate and both can bat left handed, so there's no offensive advantage to Avila starting. Weird ass Ventura.

He's had two against us, along with a .492 SLG (and a .378 OBP)

Don't worry Sox fans, Justin Morneau is coming to save the day!

Panic attacks can be so entertaining in some forms.

"Hey, that guy was good a while ago, right?"

Rick Hahn is like me playing fantasy football.

Pirates down 11-6 in Colorado. Barring a late comeback (not inconceivable at Coors) that'll bring the Cubs back to 10 games up in the division.

Feels good man

Watching Twins/Marlins (no idea why). Stanton 0 for 5 with 4 Ks and a GIDP. What the he'll has happened to him?

why is locke still in the pirates' rotation? they have to call up taillon or glasnow to replace him at this point, right?

Taillon started for the Pirates yesterday. Not sure who he replaced in the rotation though.

I think it was a scheduling thing with a DH vs the Mets Tuesday and a make up game in Colorado today. But yeah he should stay up and take Locke's spot

They sent him back down, though, presumably to keep playing Super 2 games with him, which no one cares about after last year's Kris Bryant outrage.
