There's some interesting questions to be answered if he does get the call. Does he play everyday? I'm not so sure he does. I can see KB getting some time in LF, same with Scissors. Secondly, does he solely play CF? I know this sounds dumb, but I could see Joe not wanting to disrupt anything whatsoever, when it comes to Dex.(baseball players are creatures of habit type stuff that is completely not provable)

My guess is Almora would start slightly less than half the time, but be in late defensively in most games.

since dex has been so good defensively, i'd imagine he'd stay in CF barring late subs, which is fine.

any combination of almora, fowler, heyward would be hilariously good

With Cutch declining defensively, I think we've even taken best defensive OF away from Pittsburgh.

Congrats are definitely in order for the callup. You have to feel for Vogelbach a little bit. If he could run and catch the ball even some he might have had a shot for this callup.

Yeah, JUST missed it by not being good enough at two thirds of the game of baseball.

*Obviously this impeccably accurate math applies to non-pitchers, so shut up.

I'm glad we have a plethora of people that are good at baseball to play baseball when people can no longer play the baseball

But it saddens me because it means Tim Federowicz will remain on the roster for basically ever

Yeah, I'm all for a veteran replacement-level third catcher, if that's what they are feeling. But why does it have to be this one? He is unequivocally horrible. He isn't even replacement-level. Everything he does is bad.

The Federowicz vendetta among the Cubs online community is such a weird one. He's the latest 25th man, a spot known to be a fluid one all year, on a roster still on a pace to set the ML wins record. There's pretty obvious reasons why he has the spot right now, it's an entirely justifiable move.

It's obvious why he has a spot (starter with a bad back, back up who's 39 years old) and its entirely justifiable to hate him for being absolutely terrible.

Mystery solved.

Or, again, people are not fond of him because he's [expletive] terrible at everything.

This. It would be nice, at the very least, if he could field his position.

Whatever, fair enough, vultures need their carrion and if it's the guy temporarily removed from the backup AAA catcher job so be it.

Guy is making a healthy living watching one of the best teams ever and even gets to play on it at times. He could also get him self a world series ring depending on if we win and how the rewarding of rings works. I don't think he needs anyone's defense. Even he probably knows he sucks.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Seems like a common enough reaction out of you that it kinda just loses the edge. I can appreciate the whole guard dog defending it's marked territory act for what it is tho.

Why are you this way.

It would be cool if they decided that Soler needed some time off, but not 15 days, so they sent down federogarbage and still brought up Almora

Unfortunate side effect of the Soler injury is probably more RatBoy at third to hurt our otherwise Voltronian defense.

They really, really, really don't want Zobrist in the outfield, huh?

Because if his legs were still good I'd think the best arrangement would be Stella at 2b, Bryant at 3b and Zobrist at LF. But i'll trust the coaches here, that obviously isn't an option.

My guess is they take things very very slow with Soler based on the Cubs lead in the standings and Soler's history of leg injuries.

I think the thing I hate the most about this team is LaStella starts at 3B

Clayton Richard still exists and still can't get lefties out.

Richard can still come in and not suck and he hasn't given up a run in 11 of 16 games (I'm not saying he's any good but there's a chance he can come in and be effective), LaStella is flat out terrible at 3B. You know he's going to suck defensively at 3B every game he plays there and it seems like every game there's at least 1 play he doesn't make that Javy and/or Bryant would make.
