Back to within 6 games of .750. A long shot, but not impossible. Gotta really bear down.

Good. I need something for this team to chase because this is the first time I've felt like the regular season is like the NBA's regular season.

It's like a dialog box pop up that says I won an iPhone and then when I click ok it takes me to some site with a roulette wheel. Mobile btw

If you're on an android phone, you can always hit the back button to get rid of any popup. If you're on an iphone, well, iphones suck.

But I neither of the ad services I'm using should be set up for popup ads on mobile or desktop.

I am looking at the board using safari on an iPhone 6 and have been hammered with pop ups today.

Likewise. Gone into a redirect wormhole a few times today.

40-15 looks like a really pretty record. Win tomorrow and make it happen.

Remember that shitty phase we had where we went 4-8? Well we've now gone 14-9 in our last 23 games that includes that stretch, which is a 99 win pace over a full season.

And I do not give a horsefeathers if an 18 year old boy has won a bunch of money playing games. Over 10 times and counting now.

I don't really enjoy winning because I start thinking, "yeah we won today but what if we get shutdown by some chump tomorrow?"

It's a depressing cycle.

Seek help. That's like winning the Powerball and bitching about taxes. Stop.

What if they only score 1 run in first 2 innings? These thoughts keep me awake at night

I don't know guys, any given pitcher can shut us down on any given day. I'm not gonna be satisfied until no pitcher can shut us down any given day. 39-15 is meh until then.

This is where I'm at. I actually thought the exact same thing this morning. It's like, "Oh, yay, we're on pace to break the all-time wins record." But, really I feel like we need to be on pace to win 120+. That way, during our next rut, it won't be like, "Oh, no, we might only win 110." Instead it will be like "Oh, no, now we are barely on pace to break the record." We need that little bit of breathing room.

Cubs starters have been so good this season that today's Hammel start actually drove the starters' ERA up.

It's at the point now, where I look at the schedule and have a hard time finding games the Cubs could potentially lose. Obviously, they have 5 of the best starters and the best offense on earth right now, so it's not like I'm looking for a non-favorable pitching matchup or a better scoring offense. But at this point, the Cubs only basically lose if they face a pitcher with the potential to dominate, actually dominates, and does so longer or as well as the Cubs' starter. Their last losses have come against starters who at least have some history of putting together at least the occasional dominant performance. Kazmir, Wainwright, Bumgarner, Cole, and apparently Pomeranz has that ability now. Bradley yesterday was probably the best chance I see for a guy to dominate the Cubs hitters (and he did) until they see Scherzer on the 13th. And obviously, the Cubs destroyed him a few weeks ago.

this is kind of silly. the cubs are going to be favored in every game short of maybe a hammel vs kershaw type matchup where a good team has a great starter going against one of our lesser ones, but they can potentially lose literally any game, and it wouldn't be unlikely enough to be considered at all shocking. this is baseball.

You act like I was speaking in absolute fact. I posted that knowing full well that the Cubs could lose any game on any given day. The point is and was, the Cubs just haven't lost with any consistency against anyone, and especially against anyone that isn't a really good pitcher who has a really good game against them. And the paragraph you didn't include in your quote, included me saying that the Cubs have a good chance of winning (because they don't see any really good pitchers that seem capable of really good games) unless their own starter implodes.

i realize that. i just think it's a silly thing to talk about when it's baseball.

Fifth best RD after 54 games since 1900. And back to having a RD (+142) at least twice as good as the next best team (Boston at +70).

Also there was only 1 team (Toronto) with at least a +142 RD at the end of the 2015 season.
