Im putting my money on oblique strain... It looks like he tries to hold up his arm to show that he caught it and then starts wincing and twitching and kind of grabs for his side. Hope he heals soon, that catch was RIDICULOUS.

If it is, please credit the Disco for being on top of it. If it's not, please don't bump this.

So completely unfounded guessing:

Oblique - 3-6 weeks

Hip - 1-2 weeks

Shoulder - anywhere from 6 weeks to season ending

The AP has a report that Heyward has an apparent hip injury. I don't think this is based on anything but speculation but I would think a hip injury wouldn't be too bad right? Like either it's sore/bruised and he's out a wake or two or he's the next Bo Jackson.

After what happened to Schwarbs and your dad, anything that results in two months or less would be fine. Would suck, but would be fine.

i doubt the AP knows anything we don't. they're just guessing off what they saw.

if they knew anything, len and jd would say what they knew (which they just did)

So if la Stella gets to second and then runs back to first, how is it scored? Single or double?

Single. Arrieta didn't advance 2 bases and he was a "forced" runner at the beginning of the play.

Plus, it would be a single anyway because he ended at first.

Jason Heyward is under evaluation for an injury to his right torso/abdominal region.

In Cubs speak. Broken neck.

torso/abdominal injury has be the best case scenario, right? then again, schwarbers ankle was a ACL/LCL

I don't know obliques can be a bitch and reagrivated if you return too soon. But yeah I think you can rule out season ending.

And if he's out 3-6 weeks maybe this fully heals the wrist

if it's more than a month, i wonder if they'll start looking for a rental outfielder. there's a good chance they'll want one at the deadline anyways (i don't have much faith in soler or javy as starters).

All things considered that's not horrible news at all on Heyward. Hopefully he's back in July.

I dunno, it's gotta be better overall than a shoulder or neck issue, but torn muscles in your core seem like they'd have a nagging kind of a way of sticking around and sapping strength

Oblique would me more like 2 months minimum I'd think because it didn't appear to just be a minor tweak and the Cubs really take it slow with injuries. Maybe human obliques heal differently, but Seal Boy missed like 5 months and there was no one obvious play where he injured it unlike Heyward.

I imagine they'll ride Rat Boy and Javy in a platoon at third with Bryant in LF and Soler in RF. Szczur will be back soon too. Not much point in a rental.

God I hate that Jake has been so good that I get pissed when he gives up a single run.

I mean he's given up at least 1 ER in THREE STRAIGHT GAMES

if soler and javy suck at the plate, there will be a point.
