Many fans I've spoken to recently (read: outside of Chicago) are confused by this feeling. They don't know how it feels to back a team that is ridiculously good. They're confused because they're used to losing and heartache and being out of races by June. They don't understand that we really are on pace to win 125 games right now, or that we play every game to 6-2 scores.

Len is right. We should enjoy the season. We should enjoy seriously talking about clinching the division in August or watching the back of our 40 man roster play out the string in September. It's just such a new and exciting feeling for us. This team is that far beyond the long-suffering, fatalistic, "How are they gonna choke this away?" fans' wildest expectations right now. Even Kyle can't get his doom boner up right now as much as he tries.

We here at NSBB knew this team was going to be good, but even every one of us are surprised at how well the Cubs have been grinding down opposing pitchers or how the Cubs entire rotation has stepped up their production. We are this ridiculously good. Pinch yourself. You're not dreaming.

Honestly I think most Cubs fans have gotten comfortable with it and I think the best evidence in favor of that was how we responded after Schwarber went down. Almost no one was panicking, no one was doomsaying, and everyone knew we still had a phenomenal team. It was a very mature response from a fan base, one that's prone to panic and resignation.

I've had quite a few mets/pirates/cardinals fans talk about this season and how early it is and they are still the Cubs and when I just reiterate that it's over, they all sheepishly realize that is the case.

Len Kasper ‎@LenKasper

Lead majors in ERA, runs per game, advanced defense, advanced base-running, reigning Manager of the Year, best Broadcast Booth. It's pretty stunning.

I bet a Sox fan friend $100 that the Cubs would win 90 games this year, and for every win above 90, $5 gets tacked on(or below). I think I will begin collecting by Labor Day at the latest.

The Cubs will always be the same old Cubs. Until they aren't.

It is mildly annoying that any kind of postseason loss will be tagged to "Cubs being Cubs" as opposed to "fickle baseball being fickle baseball."

Yeah...there's like an 80% chance that this season ends with "Cubs choked again" being the narrative for a lot of, if not most, people.

I hope Len becomes our Vin Scully in that he stays here forever and grows old with the club. I can't imagine a better play-by-play guy and his voice is definitely the "voice of the Cubs" to me.

And unlike Hawk, he's actually good at his job.

I can't believe someone would take that bet. In no world were the Cubs going to win 8 fewer games than 2015 with now a full season of those who propelled them to 97 wins.

I don't know what the protocol is on signing announcers, but Tom/Crane/Theo whoever needs to pay the man as this is the last year of his contract.

The Cubs-Nats preview in the blog entry under this one actually annoyed me...I mean, it's reasonable to try to hype the series and what not....but Dusty Baker and Joe Maddon are "even"? Uh, no.

I also really hope Len is re-signed.

I am surprised by how many Cubs fans I have come across who do not like him.

Really? I haven't really met anybody that feels that way about Len.

one time i talked to len as he was walking to his car after a game and he was super nice to me even though i am terrible

This reminds me, I was waiting in line in the Wrigley concourse on Sunday after the game to let my son run the bases, and happened to see Don Sutton walk out to where 3 teenagers with baseball card binders were waiting to try to get autographs. And although he did it, he was really kind of a dick about it.

That's my compelling story.

It still wasn't that great, but Deshaies and Coomer doing a few innings was 100 times better. Len Kasper is horrible

Ron Coomer doing PBP is the equivalent of watching MLB Gameday. You see In Play Run(s) but it takes 10 seconds to tell you what actually happened.

that twitter account hasn't tweeted since last fall and back then they sounded like a typically pathetic 80's obsessed fan crying for more day games and being paranoid about losses. Not sure how much of that is even related to Len.
