I wouldnt be surprised. He has a nice mix of being extremely valuable in a trade while also not being absolutely vital to our roster. I hope we keep him, he's just awesome in every way, but if we can use him as a piece to get a high OBP offensive piece or a pitcher to replace Jake then Im all for it.

I'd be extremely surprised. He definitely has his offensive struggles, but with an infield of Bryant-Russell-Baez-Rizzo, you have probably one of the best, and youngest defensive infields in the majors.

 

If one of our young players gets traded, Schwarber seems like he'd be more likely.

I'd be shocked if Javy gets dealt. The FO values his versatility a ton and its a great thing that he's a capable SS. Especially considering Russell still has his DV inquiry going, on top of missing lots of time to injury this year.

 

I'm not sure we'll trade any of the youngsters, but if we do, I'd figure it comes from Almora, Schwarber, or Happ. But, I'm not really thinking we trade for a starting pitcher this off season. I doubt we move any of the young position players and wait until the trade deadline, to see if we've had prospects develop that can basically net the same caliber of pitcher.

Yeah Javy isn’t going anywhere, he still likely has more value to us than what he’d bring in a trade. Happ, Almora and Schwarbs are the guys to trade if they make one. Which I still don’t think is all that likely. I have some trade ideas I do like (that includes the 3 I mentioned) but until the offseason officially gets here I’m not talking about it.

Why would we even consider trading Javy? He's obviously an asset to the team. He's not even arbitration eligible for another 2 years and even then it's not like we couldn't afford him. Not having Javy on this team would be awful.
