watching the game with my brother (Baseball coach for Liberty High school in Las Vegas (we both went to Bonanza High School)) tonight who said:

I hate the trade for montero... that contract is crazy and he will never live up to it.

I hate trading starlin and we get this Zobrist utility guy for 3 years whos 35 already? what a waste.

Arrieta is at best a 4 pitcher. 2014 was a fluke and he cant possibly get better

I hate that we let go of Shark... hes going to be the next Clemens

Why draft Bryant? My team was able to strike him out 3 times and he only hit one 500 bomb off our ace(2010). too many holes in his swing to ever be productive (before the 2013 draft) also compared him to Dave Kingman.

Javy is hot garbage. Trade him for a bag of balls.

After tonight, every Cub could use Zobrist's wife's music as walk up and I wouldn't care....don't care.

Well someone here is buying all her records (if the NSB Twitter account is to be believed) 8-)

"We're normal people," said the World Series MVP, Ben Zobrist, as the clubhouse clock ticked past 2 a.m. "We get nerve-wracked and anxious, just like everybody else."

"Even when I was falling asleep last night, thinking about this game, I felt like, 'Man, I'm not breathing normal. I've got to relax here,'" he said. "And it's the same thing when you go out on that field. ... I mean, we feel that in the moment, just like everybody else does. You just have to try to block it out and do your job as best you can."

Good article about Zo....to be honest I remembered all the big moments they listed but in my mind I hadn't realized how many big hits he had. He rather quietly was one of the most important players in this postseason run.

Edit: I mean look at this horsefeathers. Shaw threw his best pitch, to a spot where he hadn't allowed any hits all season, to a spot that happens to be Zobrist's coldest hitting area, and he was rewarded with allowing the go-ahead run

According to PITCHf/x, it was the second-hardest cutter Shaw had thrown all season. Going through his pitch data, I located the 20 cutters closest in location to the one Zobrist doubled down the left field line. Of the 20 closest pitches to that one, zero of them went for hits. Two of them went for swinging strikes, three went in play for outs, five went for foul balls, and the other 10 went for called strikes. Shaw located a pitch that had worked for him all year, a pitch that was right in line with their gameplan against Zobrist, a pitch harder than almost any he’s ever thrown, and Zobrist did what fantastic hitters do, what World Series MVPs do.

Now I'm leaning back towards "he's a creepy weirdo"-territory. An awesome creepy weirdo, to be sure, but non-creepy weirdos don't have to actually convince themselves and others that they're normal people.

For the record, his wife is, at the very least, a woods-witch. Worst case scenario, a Succubus.

his bat control is fantastic. a lot of guys, i'd say they were pretty lucky to rip a hard grounder down the third base line against a mid 90s cutter like the one that shaw threw, but zobrist really looked like that's what he had in mind if shaw threw him that pitch, and just executed it to perfection.
