If they really tinkered with his swing, let's send him to AAA and let him get a bunch of at bats.

Trade him and stuff for Teheran, move Dex to left and call up Almora. Keep Dex in center, put KB in left & Javy at 3rd other days. Piggyback lesser two by then of Hammel, Lackey and Hendricks. Profit?

Almora playing over Javy and to a lesser extent Soler is crazy talk at this point & i understand hes had some nice improvement.

Why is it crazy? I mean, Jorge is a butcher right now both in the field and at the plate. Almora is at least a plus defender, and the way our lineup is constructed, he can ease his way in at the bottom like Addison has done/is doing. Besides, I never said Almora would explicitly play over Javy, I never said call him up to be our starting CF. You know Joe can find ways to keep everyone fresh.

And way to overlook the fact that we'd be getting Teheran back in this scenario. Not sure whats so crazy about trying to get a guy like him for a package including someone like Jorge, who may not even have a role on the team next year, but whatever.

Almora needs the daily ABs much more than Jorge. He might be looking better, but he has a long way to go before we can feel comfortable with him hitting at the major league level. I mean, he's a guy that's been making adjustments for several years now, trying to become the complete player we hoped he would be. And he's not there yet. Let him keep developing. We're 25-6. There's no rush. If anything, when Szczur comes up, if you felt that Jorge needed to be sent down, it would probably be Kalish taking his spot.

His 10.7BB% is way above league average and his 22.6K% is down near 7.5% from last year, so why is Soler OPSing .552? I'm afraid the changes the Cubs made to get more loft in his swing are probably cause for what we're seeing this year. His LD% is down 7 from last year and his FB% is up from 30% to 43% which is Bautista territory. All of this would be fine if Soler was putting up premier slugging ratios like 20%HR/FB, but he's only putting up 8.5%HR/FB. Thanks to those drastic changes in batted ball profile you can't even call his .202babip unlucky. The off season changes basically took away what Soler does best, hit missiles. Last year's Soler with a 10.7BB% and 22.6% is very likely an .800+ OPS guy.

HR/FB ratios are not crazy predictive. Soler's has a decent chance of going up, especially when the wind blows out.

And he's not cold. The man is freezing. Give the man a freaking parka!

If you swapped Baez and Soler's BABIPs, the former would be back in AAA and the latter would be lining up All Star votes.

How do their hard/soft contact rates compare? I'd be curious to see a side by side but not curious enough to look it up myself.

Georgie is still going to become the Donging Adonis that he is destined to be and all you guys are gonna look back on this thread like the Arrieta trade thread and realize you were all woefully wrong.

Just so I don't look foolish ten years from now:

I wouldn't be surprised if Jorge turned into a great baseball player. I also wouldn't be surprised if he washes out of baseball within the next 4 years.

Mr. Soler,

your Uber to Iowa is here.

Does his contract place any limitations on sending him down? It was a major league contract, so how many options does he have?
