You got to love that the Cubs are guaranteed at least a half game lead over the Cards or Pirates before their first pitch.

Possibility of a two game lead on the Cardinals before Arrietta throws in anger.

This might be the most hilariously oblivious post from Gateway Redbirds ever:

Two years ago if you had told me that the Cardinals would have an opening day outfield of Pham, Grichuk and Piscotty, I would've assumed something went horribly, horribly wrong.

HMMMM.

The bottom of the order for StL is flat out bad. Which would be okay, but the top is full of questions, too.

This is the problem with the Cards offense. They have so little power that it really takes a chain reaction to score runs. Liriano has opened the door wide a few times, and they just can't string enough together.

Can't count on historical numbers with RISP every year. Or was it strand rate last year.

Almost immediately another poster pointed out that's exactly what happened.

They look so blech on paper. Average with more downside than upside. Their organizational benefit of the doubt is netting them 10 wins in the prediction circuit.

Don't defend the Cardinal fans, you weirdo.

Tommy Pham left the game with an injury

I hope he's ok. I want the Cardinals to be ridiculously healthy this year so that their fans have to acknowledge their badness.

The Reds and Brewers will make sure that won't happen. Man, the Reds are going to suuuuuck.

Indeed they are (though the Brewers may be worse). To make things worse for Reds fans is that their FO has been fumbling the rebuild, so they're not gaining as much on the long term front as they should be.
