So Trump's latest comments about the Cubs/Ricketts are basically an admission that he has no dirt on the Cubs and that he just talks (or tweets) out of his ass right?

TRUMP: Look, they are spending vicious … I don’t even know these people. Those Ricketts. I actually said they ought to focus on the Chicago Cubs and, you know, stop playing around. They spent millions of dollars fighting me in Florida. And out of 68 counties, I won 66. I won by 20 points, almost 20 points. Against, everybody thought he was a popular sitting senator. I had $38 million dollars spent on me in Florida over a short period of time. $38 million. And, you know, the Ricketts, I don’t even know these people.

HIATT: So, what does it mean, “They better watch out”?

TRUMP: Well, it means that I’ll start spending on them. I’ll start taking ads telling them all what a rotten job they’re doing with the Chicago Cubs. I mean, they are spending on me. I mean, so am I allowed to say that? I’ll start doing ads about their baseball team. That it’s not properly run or that they haven’t done a good job in the brokerage business lately.

This could be real or it could be made up and neither would surprise me.

I would love to see Trump attack the Cubs for not being run well, and then Theo starts working "small hand" references into all of his interviews.

He can hire Wes Welker as his speech writer.

That is EXACTLY what I had in mind. Best foot forward, etc.

wasn't olbermann (not saying he was wrong) very outspoken about making fun of the cubs and their management/ownership as recently as last year?

Speaking of goofy BP content, Watt looks at the roster and the #1 song at the time each was born. I feel old. Except for the Rizzo/Heyward one. I'm not sure I've ever heard that song.

Soler's is very fitting.

Soler's could not be more perfect.

another observation: "I Will Always Love You" was number 1 for a long time.

Oh yeah, I was only 11 but I remember my mom playing the Bodyguard soundtrack on repeat for like 4 months straight, wanted to bang my head against the wall towards the end of that run.

The difference between the worst possible backup C and an average backup C is so negligible that I like that we have an old funny dude that everyone on the team loves.

Yeah I mean it is what it is and I'm not crying about our situation, but the reality was that we had a cheapish, good hitting backup catcher already when we signed Ross. I think most people were excited about the possibility of Joe matching up Montero and Castillo favorably and give us above average production from the catchers all year, maybe even the best in the league. But once the Ross signing became reality, it was kind of annoying knowing that he was basically killing Welly's trade value, and not because he was a necessarily better player. But that was then, this is now, I think we'll be OK.

Is this the "worst" realistic lineup we can put out there, assuming a 4 man bench?

CF Fowler

SS Russell

1B Rizzo

RF Soler

LF Schwarber

3B Baez

2B LaStella

C Ross

P Lester

Unless you can convince Montero or Ross to play 1B for the first time in their careers. But I guess you said realistic.

wait, LaStella is still a thing?

I wouldn't be surprised if he's our primary PH this year, even with at least 1 Heyward/Fowler/Schwarber/Baez/Soler/etc. on the bench everyday.
