ND played pretty well and UNC is really horsefeathering good. Got a few lucky breaks on a couple offensive boards but they also kicked our ass down low. Carolina is the best team in the country.

Can't complain one iota about this season. They weren't really that great but they matched probably the best ND team ever's tournament run. :good:

Exactly how I felt about the IU/UNC game. It kinda sucks, 2 of the last 3 years when IU has had teams that could feasibly be Final Four caliber, they ran into the likely eventual champions in UK in 2014 and UNC this year in the Sweet 16. I don't think IU this year could have beaten any of the teams that will be playing next weekend, but I feel they could have beaten all the teams that lost the last 2 days, though all would have been extremely competitive and I'm hypothetically including a healthy Robert Johnson.

Chris Beard leaving Little Rock to become coach at UNLV. Damn. I was hoping he'd stick around one more year and take over at Arkansas after Anderson gets fired.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Jamie Dixon left Pitt to go to TCU, his alma mater, and Kevin Stallings from Vandy has taken the Pitt job. Even more hilarious is that a former Vandy player transferred to Pitt to get away from Stallings. I think he even tried to block the transfer. That's going to be awkward.

Mike Dunleavy is the new coach at Tulane.

seems like a strange move for him

Yeah, I'm a Tulane fan and I'm pleasantly surprised. Still, there's been a renewed commitment to athletics at Tulane that hasn't been there since Katrina, and the AAC is a pretty nice conference.

Doesn't seem that strange to me. He hasn't coached anywhere in 6 years, and the last time he was a relevant coach was probably 16 years ago when he coached the Jail Blazers. In his career he has made it to the NBA Finals once, 25 years ago as the Lakers head coach. I'm not saying he's a terrible coach, just a middling one and one that has been out of the spotlight for the better part of a decade. No one is giving him an NBA or power conference job, he probably has too much of an ego after 17 seasons as a head coach to take an assistant job (and if he was open to it he would have taken one in the period between getting fired by the Clippers and now). If he wants to get back into coaching, becoming a head coach at a lightly regarded low-major school seems like the most appealing option.

Actually seems almost like Larry Brown taking the SMU job, except Larry Brown is a more accomplished coach and one with significant college experience with Kansas in the 80's.

Already locked up two small pools (for a total of $320) and if Carolina wins I will take $500 in a larger one. If Villanova wins I will still take home $300 for 2nd place. All in all, a nice ROI this March Madness.

Best finish outside of NC State?

I'd put it above that one only because that one was a missed shot and putback. This one had the game tying 3 by Paige followed by the winner.

The Butler one against Duke would have been better if Hayward's shot went in. Not only would it have been a half court shot but it would have turned a loss into a win instead of a tie into a win.
