Also came from a small town in Alabama where he had a girlfriend of 5 years until he did some family lineage searching and realize it was his 2nd cousin, which defies logic given the circumstances

Knowing most of the Mormons that I do, I can totally buy this as true

Your HS and college buddies rebelling aren't really changing my perception. I don't believe that they're salt of the earth or whatever you're trying to imply. I've found them a bit prudish sometimes. But all the Mormons I've known strictly follow the no booze or coffee BS.

Clearly anecdotal, but my dad has gone on several dive trips that had a number of Mormons on them and they got tanked constantly. I have a feeling that there's a lot of partaking when they're away from the group.

I just did, and well, I didn't realize that feature was actually on. I thought jersey was talking about quoting in tapatalk

Either way, I apologize, I wish there was a less annoying alt to tpt or safari/chrome

I played baseball with a couple of Mormons and even dated one for a while. The term for a Mormon who doesn't follow all tenets (i.e. drinking and pre-marital sex) is a Jack-Mormon. I have known the strict followers and the less than strict. Very interesting to see the disparity.

One girl I took out absolutely refused to drink alcohol, but was perfectly fine with the pre-marital sex. Doesn't make sense to me, but that's ok. \:D/

That's actually kind of lame.

But somehow still awesome because its Kris Bryant.

I just wonder what the reason is. Is it an "I don't want to poison my body" type situation? Or maybe a history of alcoholism in his family that makes him overly cautious? I mean, I don't drink much...but it's mostly a taste aversion...and I certainly can't say I've never had a drink...

I don't know how applicable it is to Bryant, but as someone who also has never drank, it's a combination of things. Upbringing(my parents didn't drink at all), picky tastes(I don't try a lot of new food/drink regardless), personal conservatism/willpower(I have a hard enough time not eating all the Oreos the same day I open the package, no need to risk that portion control with alcohol), and social circles(my friends either don't drink or do so rarely).

Yeah, never drinking isn't as inconceivable as some make it it seem. My father never had a drop in his life, primarily because his father was a raging Irish Catholic drunk and that caused him to detest alcohol. And he ended up being as non-religious as one could possibly imagine.

I drank pretty heavily when I was 18-21, but it's quite easy to imagine a scenario in which I never did, it I hadn't fallen in with a certain group of acquaintances. I've been pretty much sober since I was 21. Of course that's just never having a buzz or being drunk; never having a drop pass your lips would probably require a confluence of circumstances, as you say. But from what Kris said about his religiousness, I doubt it's the result of being a hardcore zealot.

I know Bryant's roommate from when he played ball at San Diego. Bryant doesn't party, he's beyond committed to baseball and his girlfriend

I'm not surprised at it at all, since MLB shoes aren't really a thing in any sense, and basketball shoes as casual wear are huge, but it's still crazy how little that is compared to what Derrick Rose got coming off his MVP.

I know cleats aren't exactly built for style, but I wonder if they would sell to a casual market if they just replaced the spikes with a cross trainer tread of some type? That way, for example, you could buy those Kris Bryant Adidas shoes for an everyday environment.
