so now we're getting the prolific masher we once imagined, except we now also have the knowledge that he's an awesome defender and baserunner too.

I'm considering praying to him. Is that weird?

Its sure going to suck when he leaves the Cubs in 5 years for the Yankees and a $500m contract because we kept him in Iowa for 3 weeks.

for the last calendar year he's 4th in fWAR, ahead of Bryce Harper and Manny Machado

for his career he's playing at better than a 7.5-win pace

he's on pace for 47 HR and 43 2B

he's cut his K rate by a full 8% this year

he's a plus fielder at 3-4 positions

he's under team control through 2021

Doing some more investigating on this 3 HR game thing because that just seems so crazy that it hadn't been done before (and indeed it has not) and I came across the fact that Sosa had three 3 HR games in 2001.

Oh, and Aramis had 4 career 3 HR games.

you can just tell he hates it here over what the Cubs did with his service time, he's always moping and never smiling, he can't wait to leave

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that the tank & rebuild wasn't worth it, last night was your answer.

Kris Bryant was drafted in 2013, based on the 2012 records, which was the first year after Hendry was fired. It had nothing to do with whether or not tanking in 2013 and 2014 was 'worth it'.

Remember the "his ceiling is basically Troy Glaus" discussion? That was fun.

Well, It might still be at the plate. But it might just be a more consistent version of his 2000 self at the plate where he hit .284/.404/.604 and was a positive defender for a total of 8.2 WAR

Yeah, I could buy "2000 Glaus" as a ceiling. Bryant will already have more career 6+ fWAR seasons after this year.

I still think it's a relatively fair/good comp for his offensive profile. It's just that Bryant is Troy Glaus except with a better batting average and a plus defender at multiple positions.

I think I'll write an article about how awesome Kris Bryant is for the front page tomorrow.

I'm working on it now. I think it's pretty good. I ran into the problem of actually having to do some work today, though. And now this article is becoming much longer than I had planned. I thought I would have it done this evening, but now I am going out to eat. So I'll have to finish it up later tonight. Plan on having a nice read for the morning...

is that the RH top-2 pick 3B who moved to LF and averaged 32/102 during his prime

Are you actually citing RBI?

lol - it seemed to me that the comments on that article were a perfect place to pimp Aaron's writing.
