When do we start worrying about his and the rest of the FO's lack of extensions? I know theyve pretty much said that its a formality, but I was kind of expecting to hear word in April.

So I was talking to a friend about arrieta and the baseless talk about him using PED's last night and this is what I sent.

"He changed mechanics and stuff too when he came over to the cubs. The orioles tried making him get rid of the twist in his windup and it fucked with him. Everyone knew he had a good arm, he was a fairly highly regarded prospect.

also, the orioles don't like the pitchers in their system throwing cutters, but the cubs guys love the pitch. It really sets up his repertoire well. So he came to the cubs organization, was allowed to do his natural delivery, and got to throw cutters. He's been really good almost the whole time he's been here, and nigh untouchable for a while now.

Its not like his velocity went up, so no suggestion of steroid use there. he has a crazy training regiment (look it up, he's nuts), which explains his endurance and going late into games. I dunno, it just seems like this is media outlets trying to muck up things for.. some reason? Attention I suppose, but that's a pretty shitty way to drub up ratings.

And the casual fan/espn watcher wouldn't know any of the stuff they didn't hear stephen a Smith and skip bayless speculate. They hear "it might be steroids" and none of the mechanical changes."

That was the night before Theo's comments on the issue. Just made me feel on the ball to see my comments line up as closely as they do with his.

So Theo said contract talks are "status quo." I'm curious to what the real story is, because I do believe something is up.

Like what?

Either he wants more money then he's being offered, he doesn't like working for the Ricketts family, he's intrigued by the thought of going back to Boston.......something. Far too many times they have acted like something is close only to give a reason why it didn't get done.

iirc there's some hangup about finding out how much friedman really makes because there is some sort of ambiguity about it and then figuring out how to make theo the highest paid exec.

I feel like these guys are pretty smart and could have figured that out by now, though.

Or...and I'm just gonna throw this out there.....they're negotiating.

For sure. I'd also throw back that it could be going really poorly, too.

Well, since it's the Ricketts, that's a given.

I suppose...if you just flat out disbelieve the things that have been said.

Theo Epstein on contract extension "we talked in spring training Thought they were good and productive. We both feel it will get done "

But if you're going that route, you're just making stuff up, so there's no argument to be had.

Something. He already said it; try to keep up.

Not sure why, but this was my first actual spit take

There have been quotes made like that since last year, yet nothing has gotten done. Talks are really good and productive, but then nothing gets done for whatever reason they come up with (i.e. he has to concentrate on other business).

Of course I don't know what the exact reason is -- you asked me for possible examples so I gave some -- but I don't think it's that outrageous to wonder why nothing has been signed when they have publicly acted like everything is going great and it will be soon..........when soon was months ago.

I am wary of this guy's anti-dong/anti-Castro/pro-FO conflict agenda.

That user name kinda screams something an undercover Cardinals fan would come up with.
