The Miles Robinson injury worries me the most. That and that the last two friendlies reminded me too much of qualifying in terms of lack of chances.

On the positive side, Antonee and Ream play together at Fulham and are doing well. Gio played 45 minutes for Leipzig this weekend. Weah is back. These are kind of the keys for me - we need Weah and Gio to create danger from the right. Then we need CP to come alive and take advantage of the space created on the left (and finish for crying out loud!)

BA is fresh off some strong performances more in the center of the attack transition. Playing really well off of Adams and Roca dropping in to be an outlet. He doesn’t advance the ball as a dribbler but his runs are good and his passing is maybe a teeny upgrade on Wes? Obviously he isn’t close to the finisher or the set piece threat that Wes is, but I certainly like him there more than Acosta and LDLT.

And yeah, how GGG lists the players on the roster has always been an indicator of how GGG intends to deploy them, so I think there’s enough Smoke there to assume that’s the Wes back up plan.

rant:

I have to admit to getting annoyed with people who say soccer players are constantly flopping. Yea, it happens, but it's so overplayed. It horsefeathering hurts to get kicked in the leg while running at full speed. Secondly, players often stay on the ground late to get some rest for themselves and their teammates. This is sponsored by the U or Pitt player who stays down - to me it looks like frustration and fatigue as opposed to pretending to be injured.

What's the best World Cup watching plans for the cordcutters like me out there? Doesn't seem like Fox has a standalone subscription to stream the games.

The most cost efficient option is antenna + subscribing to Peacock. That will get you all the big Fox games over the air, and any others will be on Telemundo (albeit in Spanish) on Peacock. Other considerations:

- It looks like 21 group stage games are on big Fox with the other 27 on FS1, and all the US group games are on Fox.

- The Cable games are slanted towards the weekends, presumably since Fox has football obligations that take precedence.

- All of the knockout games are on big Fox except the 2 round of 16 games on Sunday December 4th(again, presumably because of NFL obligations)

- Unfortunately, if the US wins their group, they'll be one of those December 4th games

TL;DR if you have a way to watch Fox OTA you're gonna be able to watch a lot of these games. The cheapest option to fill in the cable gaps is Peacock, but it'll be in Spanish.

there will be *streams all over the place. I'll figure out where the games are being streamed and let everyone know

i love weah, i just want him on the pitch. i dont care if it's at wing back, i think he elevates the entire team when he's flying around.

I've long said that Weah could be a great fit at the 9 in this system, but why is this a thing being considered 6 days before the world cup starts

Well, better than 6 days after the world cup ends. I'd rather see all of Pulisic, Reyna, Aaronson, and Weah on the pitch than, say, Acosta or Roldan just because.

Yeah but it’s working for him because he has charisma.

I think Tyler is the winner here, even though I like Gio’s karate gi robe. His arms and stubble really set the shirtless vest off.
