Their defense is doo doo but that attack with a head of steam is unstoppable

Seven of their defenders are injured - this is an improvised back line and it shows.

Leipzig could easily be up on Mainz 4-1 but are down 0-1 due to some incredible white knuckle team defending in front of goal.

Frustrating debut for marsch with 10 minutes left

fun first weekend! Deserved win for Spurs - Barca looked the opposite of City - they actually attacked the goal! City looked awful (until KDB came on).

Was obviously happy with the result but the performance was good also. They let City have the ball but defended well and actually seemed willing to attack when they did have the ball, which is a big difference from the Mourinho era. Last year too often they didn't seem to want to even try to attack against the big clubs. So while the possession today was basically identical to when Spurs beat City last year (66-34), this year they took 13 shots in the game as opposed to only 3 in the win last year. In fact, in 3 games against City last year, Spurs took 13 shots total.

Of course it's only 1 game and they could easily crap the bed on the road against Wolves next week.

Moura was great - I've always liked him as a player and he showed well yesterday.

in what is a perfect summation of Pulisic's last 18 months or so, he played in the first league game, played very well, poached a goal, looks set for an extended run in the squad with ziyech out with a shoulder injury, and the he immediately tests positive for covid right before a match against arsenal

10 days to CONCACAF WCQs, with 3 games in 7 days for the USMNT: @ El Salvador, v Canada, @ Honduras.

If they don't get at least 5 points they're setting themselves up for a lengthy, tense qualifying round again.

EPL is not releasing players to red listed COVID nations.

Honestly curious as to how the US isn't red-listed

Early indication is that FIFA isn't going to play along so those EPL teams could face punishment for doing so.

EDIT: The team hurt by this the most in the short run is probably Jamaica? They have several EPL players and play @Mexico/v. Panama/@Costa Rica in the first set of games. Mexico doesn't get Jimenez back but I'm not sure if he was going to be fit for that round of games. Off the top I can't think of another Ocho team who would be particularly hurt.

Ladies and gentlemen, we got him

What a get. This is the best US-Mexico dual national prospect, ever.

GGG rules. Beating Mexico twice for trophies this summer super mattered.
