wait wtf is this now?

If Landon's statement is to be believed, after the Galaxy lost like 3 guys in a week(mainly Zardes for the year) they joked with him about coming back, and then after some thought he was like "well, okay"

I'm sure I'll be in the minority on this but I think this is a stunningly bad decision on LD's part.

Maybe LAG should use one of the very promising academy prospects instead.

why is it bad on his part? Seems like a desperate and sad move by the team but if you're him, what's the harm?

The sentimental part of me realizes that he retired after ripping through the league after he got Jurgen'd in 2014, beat Dempsey's Sounders in a great conference final and won MLS Cup and wonders why he would come back to spoil that fairytale ending.

Coming back for a random 2 months nearly 2 years after retiring...how effective is he going to be, even off the bench?

This is notwithstanding LAG ignoring their academy products that can't get a game in. I don't believe Bradford Jameson or Jack McBean are going to be less effective that a 34 year old LD with two years worth of rust.

I suppose, thought, if anyone in US soccer history has earned the right to do whatever makes him happy it's LD.

Retiring from pro sports is hard. MJ had his fairy tale ending vs Utah and came back to play for the freaking Wizards. Brett Favre with the Jets and Vikings. Ryno came back after 2 years or retirement....Magic Johnson...

It doesn't make the things they did any less special.

Except for Favre.

Yep, I imagine that every time he watched soccer on TV or when calling Copa America he was reminded that he is still good enough to play at a high level, but in 3 years he might not be and will never be able to play again. If I was a retired pro athlete, I would feel that pull every single day.

Who is Lynden Gooch for Sunderland and does the USMNT want him?

He's a 20 year old dude from Santa Clara. He'll play for the US. There's no way he doesn't get a call up soon and he doesn't want to play for Ireland.

That said, I'm not sure what his upside is.

Disappointing result last night but experiencing Wembley and all the chanting and singing was pretty awesome. We were 12 rows up and about even with one of the 18 yard boxes. Definitely something I'll remember forever even if the final score wasn't what I had hoped.

White Hart Lane should be just as good on Sunday with hopefully a better result.

The Spurs game was pretty great today - not necessarily the result (though I was happy with a win) but just getting to experience that atmosphere. I knew it would be different but getting to experience the difference between American sports (MLB/NFL/NBA, can't speak for MLS) firsthand was interesting. Fans just starting chants out of nowhere without needing to be prompted by some jumbotron to stand and cheer and make noise. Getting to see the whole stadium be extra loud while doing the "He's one of our own" and "Oh when the Spurs" chants after Kane scored was awesome. We were also on the south end of the stadium and only a couple sections away from the Sunderland fans and those guys were all standing and chanting for most of the game as well. Just awesome.

MLS was lit today.

The Landon goal and Jozy wrecking NYRB. Can't overstate how great he's been since coming back from injury. Best I've ever seen him. MB got one too.

Morris got the late winner yesterday. Yanks be scoring.

I also hit a 4 team parlay taking the over. That's right, I bet on MLS.

You gonna ride with the Timbers?

I've always thought Nashville would be a good MLS market.

I don't know if I'm ready to have a favorite team, I'm just trying to watch as many matches as possible right now. The Timbers fans were great though. Had a chance to go to a Sounders match as well, but I had to see about a girl.

We have a football club here now, it's part of the NPSL and moving to the USL in '18. Thinking of getting season tix. The national teams always draw pretty well here, so I feel it's only a matter of time.

I've always been a casual soccer fan, but seeing a game in one of the really good environments(for me it was Seattle) really goes a long way to hooking you on MLS. It's the closest thing I've found to the best parts of a college football gameday environment in a professional sport.

Same here. I followed it casually but didn't fall in love with the league until I caught a game in Seattle.

Spending a lot of time in Orlando for work has been interesting. City SC is pretty much the biggest unifying piece of culture in Orlando. It's cool. I put the company I work for on the waiting list for season tickets, but it's going to be a long wait because their new stadium is sold out already.
