I am too. If that makes me a bad Bulls fan, so be it.

You would. You've already got 20 years of experience in saying things like "I don't care if they finished with a better record, the (86 Celtics) played in a tougher era and were a better team"

You'll note what team will be largely responsible if they don't make it to 73.

Oh, you meant Minnesota.

This is a moment right here

Oldest player ever to score 60 in a game and it's not close. Wilt was second and he was only 32 when he did it.

So the dude who gave me Hornets tickets last night decided we needed an exit strategy to beat the crowd so we had to leave with just under 10 minutes left in the game. Right after Orlando brought a 20-something point deficit down to 2. The Hornets went on to win by 14, but what's the point of going to games if you're going to do horsefeathers like that?

Yes, I cannot think of a more Kobe way to go out. He was true to himself until the end.

It also makes me realize that, although physically he is beaten up, he could probably milk out a couple of years as a dangerous role player on a contender and win that 6th title if he could a) play on another team other than the Lakers and b) accept not being the alpha dog or at least alpha dog 1a. But I can not see Kobe ever doing that.

Sure, if a player becomes a completely different player they might be a different player.

and many former stars go that direction to prolong their careers. I mean maybe the dude was just done with basketball and that's fine but for someone that lived and breathed basketball his entire life, if he still wanted to play he could be a very effective 6th man type or even 3rd option type on a contender. Not necessarily a critique of Kobe, just an observation after watching him last night.

Very few players on his level do that. Plus he's been terrible at almost everything for a while now. Last night was a [expletive] miracle.

Tim Duncan, Tracy McGrady, David Robinson, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Shaq, Vince Carter just off the top of my head. Not all quite on his level but many were alpha dogs for years that took reduced roles on contenders to mixed results.

I'll be honest I don't watch a lot of Lakers games, so this might be an uninformed theory but I feel like a lot of the reason he sucked is because he still played like the alpha dog and he still logged big minutes. Give him two 8 minute stretches a game, and the last 4 minutes of crunch time and you would see more flashes of good Kobe than godless chucker Kobe imo.
