So apparently MLB is claiming that coronavirus is causing physical damage to the stadiums so that they can file an insurance claim? I don't have access to the article, so I'm going off of the excerpt in the tweet....

The rich get richer while the poor get poorer. After they possibly collect on the insurance claim, they will increase ticket prices to cover the increase in their insurance premiums. It's a never ending cycle.

They will increase ticket prices if/when demand allows for it, not to cover the cost of something else.

COVID has raised the price of quite a few things regardless of demand already. Businesses and corporations use any excuse to raise prices.

If it was regardless of demand then demand would be unable to support arbitrarily higher prices

If the higher prices are on necessities, then people don't have a choice as to whether they pay the higher prices or not.

Right - price has differing levels of elasticity on different items based on a number of factors.

As a "luxury" item, I would suspect that tickets are one of those items that have a demand that is somewhat sensitive to the price and is also sensitive to the overall economic conditions.

"Of all the nonsense that the most duplicitously conservative sports league in the history of the United States of America has ever pulled, this might be the most ridiculous piece of soft supremacy we’ve ever seen."

That's cool for Sam. I always liked him as a player and he rose through the ranks quickly after he retired. I met him at Phillies spring training in 2018 when he was an assistant/coordinator for them. He was loading his stuff onto the team bus and I called out to him and he dropped his stuff off and came back and signed for me and chatted for a minute. Nice guy and really hoping he does well.

Glad to hear Fuld was a nice dude. On a tangent, who was the craven autograph hound here back in the day? Was that you? Vance?

Sounds like the national emergency clause in the CBA likely won't allow the owners to start the season late unless there are new lockdowns/restrictions. So if the league wants to start on May 1st like they've been floating, they've gotta make it worth it to the players.

If you want to feel better about Javy's (but also Yelich's) chances of rebounding next season

I will be happy if/when Javy hits better but for reasons I can't explain I have a visceral 'they should just deal with it' reaction to players needing in-game video to be successful.
