That would be...disappointing.

Zimmermann is my least favorite of the starters in that tier.

I can see that, though he'd make a very good number 3 starter. I just don't see the Cubs allocating all that money to Price or Greinke, when they just signed Lester to a big deal and they already have one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball with Arrieta. I think they just need to shore up the pitching staff more than they need another elite starter.

The only trade I *expect* to see is something like Harvey to the Red Sox for Mookie Betts. I think the Red Sox think they're close to competing in the AL East, and adding Harvey, Cueto and Span may prove them correct.

If the Cards don't resign Heyward, they have to be targeting Chris Davis. I'd expect either way, they'll then go next tier starter with Zimmermann or Leake.

Cubs sign Price and Heyward? There must be another ticket price increase coming tomorrow.

No kidding! I predict they sign neither. I don't see them shelling out any 9-figure contracts this offseason.

anything can happen, but they sure don't sound like that's the case (that they won't sign any 9 figure player)

The Cubs will probably be in play for all the big names, but I don't see them taking the "won't be outbid" attitude with anyone. And I don't think they need to. A couple of subtle improvements will make this team better than last year. Anything above that is just added bonus. As quiet as the Cubs were at the trade deadline this past year, I could see them being the noisiest team this coming year if they don't land one of the prize free agents this winter.

I'll try to come up with a few MLB trades later on.

Is Parra really going to get that much? I definitely don't want to pay him that much with Heyward also coming here. I'd rather play Heyward in CF than Parra, and that's a lot of OFs with Parra, Heyward, Soler, and Schwarber. I like Bud Norris as the reclamation/6th starter. One of my low key targets I'd like to see the Cubs add.

I honestly have no feel for his contract. I almost went 2/12 there but thought it was light. In this scenario, we'd deal Coghlan. Need to add that in my scenario, I guess. At any rate, I kind of figure Parra as the 4th OF, but finds his way to 450 PA.

Forgot about Coghlan too. But I'd be cool with that if Cogs is traded and at the 2/12 contract for Parra as the 4th OF.

Arrieta, Lester, Teheran, Maeda, Hendricks, Norris is a good rotation if Maeda is any good. Could be better, but pretty realistic.

Schwarber, Heyward, Soler, Parra is the best offensive OF in the league. And the IF isn't bad.

Heyward, Maeda, Parra, trading for Teheran, & adding a reliever or two(Grilli, trading Coghlan, Cahill, etc) would be a terrific offseason.

Honestly don't think I will be on either account.

I hope I'm right about Heyward and that we then turn and deal for two young, controllable arms.
