  2. There's no chance either one would be given up, let alone both, in a rental deal. And if it's true that the Orioles fear Machado getting flipped to the Yankees, the White Sox really have no reason to go at him (Since they're a number of years a way from competing), which takes another team out of the equation. From this article, the Orioles are looking at Jordan Hicks and Carson Kelly http://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2017/12/quick-update-on-machado-and-the-trade-discussions.html
  3. They're not trading Reyes or CMart for Brian Dozier.
  4. System is decent, could be really good in a year depending on their development as their best talent is in the lower levels (Delvin Perez could become a stud but he's 17). Oh would probably net a nice return considering teams are loving closers now Carpenter, Molina and depending on how good Wainwright does the first half, would all net nice returns The others that would net nice returns, would be stupid to trade (Martinez, Reyes, Piscotty, Diaz) because they could be a future core. The others are just decent players but probably not getting you anything more than b-level prospects at best. Cardinals team isn't really old, it's actually fairly young, but they don't have much in the way of a young core of position players. They have Wong who is okayish, Piscotty who's about a two win player, and Diaz who could be really good or his first year could've been a mirage. Not much. Their rotation could be really good with Martinez and Reyes anchoring it for the foreseeable future though. Depends if Martinez can take that next step and if Reyes can cut down the walks. They're about a floor 80 wins, ceiling 90 win team.
  5. Guess they can make up when they want to apply the rule. I've seen plenty of challenges requested more than 30 seconds after the play was over. End of game rules are different. It has to be immediate
  6. A big lead? A big lead was 10 games It wont be a big lead Seven games is still a big lead. If they lose tmw, it'll be 5.5
  7. Cardinals are better than the Mets and Dodgers but okay. Only on here is a team with the 4th best run differential in baseball "mediocre". They are all mediocre compared to us Fair enough.

  9. I see the Orioles doing their best Phillies impersonation with Chris Davis playing Ryan Howard.
  10. Err...the Mets traded for Neil Walker a while back. Not really about that so much. I probably should've said LOLMETSFANS, because they wanted Murphy back badly, and instead he went to a division rival.
  11. Probably a 3 win player on an average season, could have a spike year and peak at 4. Very good hitter, average defender. Not much of a base runner. FWIW he didn't even play on a 3 win pace last year when he BABIPed .372 and had a .305/.359/.494 slash line in 63 games (just for the sake of perspective). I mean, I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up what you're saying he is, but I'd say saying he'll "probably" do that is a little too far to go. Fair enough.
  12. Cardinals will be carried by the pitching. If Wainwright, Martinez, Wacha, Leake make 30 starts and they get a half season from Garcia with the middling prospects being stop gaps whenever the inevitable injury happens, they'll be a 90 plus win team. Probably off pace for a division title, but enough to grab one of the two wild cards. Now, Grichuk and Holliday could play full seasons and hit a combined 40+ homers and Adams could get back to being a 2 win player and that changes things quite a bit.

  14. To be fair, WAR for pitchers is pretty crappy.
  15. Diamondbacks also get Gabe Speier in the trade.
  16. I think you're overrating Soler quite a bit to think you'd do better than Miller and Teharan. Two very good cost controlled pitchers. I'm not even necessarily saying I'd do the trade, but you're not getting much better than that for Soler alone. He's talented but he's flawed.
  17. Difference between Teheran and Miller is negotiable. Miller was significantly better last season (Almost a full run better in FIP). Career wise they've been pretty equal.
  18. That would be...disappointing. Zimmermann is my least favorite of the starters in that tier. I can see that, though he'd make a very good number 3 starter. I just don't see the Cubs allocating all that money to Price or Greinke, when they just signed Lester to a big deal and they already have one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball with Arrieta. I think they just need to shore up the pitching staff more than they need another elite starter.
  19. Why not? 1. Zack Greinke - Red Sox 2. David Price - Cardinals 3. Jason Heyward - Dodgers 4. Chris Davis - Mariners 5. Justin Upton - Mets 6. Johnny Cueto - Giants 7. Yoenis Cespedes - Tigers 8. Alex Gordon - Royals 9. Jordan Zimmermann - Cubs 10. Jeff Samardzija - Yankees 11. Mike Leake - Twins 12. Denard Span - Indians 13. Kenta Maeda - Diamondbacks 14. Wei-Yin Chen - Orioles 15. Dexter Fowler - Indians 16. Daniel Murphy - Dodgers 17. Scott Kazmir - Angels 18. Ian Kennedy - Nationals 19. Yovanni Gallardo - Red Sox 20. Ben Zobrist - Nationals
