  1. Cardinals best prospect Alex Reyes was suspended 50 Games for failing second test for weed
  2. To be fair, teams always look like they're mailing it in when the other team is pitching well against them. Mets rotation is just that good.
  3. Is that a "soft" single or does it not count when the Cubs get them?
  4. Royals are the best team in the playoffs
  5. and yet weird things continue to happen to the cubs Weird things like Theo & Co said [expletive] pitching and now it haunts us? Our pitching was better than the Mets' this year. Mets rotation is still significantly better.
  6. I'm assuming there is not time to stretch him out to start and will be out of the pen correct? Yup. He'll be pitching out the pen. Cardinals beat writer said he may be used as early as Wednesday
  7. Adam Wainwright has officially been cleared to return.
  8. Nice series. Would love to face the Cubs in the NLDS. Pirates bore me.
  9. Their pitching has overachieved to amazingly unsustainable proportions. Their offense hasn't really been able to hit much this year. Not really. They have a extremely high strand rate, but they've still pitched great, just better than their FIP, which is still second to only the Dodgers in all of baseball. So no, they haven't overachieved to amazingly unsustainable proportions. And whenever a team gets blown out, they look terrible. Judging their season performance based off the last two games is silly as the people who judge players off having a bad post season series. But I get it, your Cubs fans who hate the Cardinals, so logic isn't really what you're going to be using when evaluating a rival. The Cardinals can both have a very good pitching staff and overachieve unsustainably, they aren't mutually exclusive. Having a team FIP that is 2nd in the NL means they are good. Having an ERA that is 0.66 better than their FIP(next best gap is the Pirates at 0.25) when their defensive efficiency is middle of the road means that they aren't nearly as good as their results. They've definitely overachieved to a point, but they've sustained it for 140 games. I just hate when people try to simplify things down to luck, instead of giving players credit for their performance. Seems like a lot of Cubs fans do it just so they can feel better about their team being a laughingstock for years. Boiling down the Cardinals being the best team in baseball down to "pixie dust" is stupid on so many levels.

  12. I don't get why you guys are so caught up in things like this. Some players/pitchers aren't championed in the minors and can develop into really good players in the majors. It happens quite often actually. Because it never seems to happen for us. Every once in a while we see some irrelevant dude like Donnie Murphy play out of his mind for a few months, but almost never do our marginal players develop legit, solid careers, which is what consistently happens in St. Louis. Jake Arietta went from god awful to one of the top 5-10 pitchers in baseball.

  14. [tweet] [/tweet] They're 6.5 back of the second wild card with like 5 teams ahead of them.....ummm okay?
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] Seems whatever it is is substantial
  16. Steamer projects him to have a 1.1 War the rest of the season and slug over 467. He's actually better against lefties than righties Really bad trade though.
  17. FYI, if you add the tweet tags(it's next to the Youtube logo when you create/edit a post), those tweets will get embedded. Thanks! And yeah Rangers going after him is a bit confusing. They're 5 games back of the second wild card I believe.
  18. Never thought of this but pretty accurate.
  19. Oh please let the Mets do something dumb like give up Molina and Fulmer. Only player known for sure so far is Jon Gant
