I mean, I know it has nothing to do with the outcome, but man was it fun listening to the TBS guys begging for a Duda homer today. Congrats guys, you got your wish.

I'm being totally serious when I say that us acquiring a pitcher at the deadline would have made the rest of the season and the playoffs unfold differently. Created another timeline, in a sense. You can't say everything would have been the same besides us having a better starter in the playoffs.

Welp. I'll admit I'll never be able to win that argument. Of course maybe if we get David Price we somehow miss the playoffs all together. So in that case, great move not getting one.

I mean, sure, maybe that happens. In all likelihood, we still make the playoffs, probably. You can't say that the playoffs would have unfolded the same way, though. Chaos theory is tricky business.

Yeah but the issue with that is that you can substitute literally any other possible action in the universe for "acquiring a pitcher at the deadline" and the rest of your argument wouldn't change.

have we held a lead at any point in this series?

It's just so frustrating that the Cubs gave up a 1st inning run in 7/8 NLDS and NLCS games. Hard to win a World Series when you trail in every single game

Well, anything that doesn't directly impact the team probably isn't going to make a difference. I'm not talking 'butterfly flapping its wings in China' level of Chaos Theory.

Now I'm at the point of hoping they manage to just lose the series normally. Just get swept like a regular [expletive] team that played terribly for 4 games instead of something stupid and ridiculous happening that the meatballs can glom onto and sob about curses and sorcery and all that other poop.

They've mailed it in. Fans deserve better.

To be fair, teams always look like they're mailing it in when the other team is pitching well against them. Mets rotation is just that good.

Bottom line: I find it funny in a series that we just got dominated in on offense, defense and pitching that people are bitching about not picking up a single starter at the deadline as if that is the glaring issue in this series. Everything has been as issue, including the three starters that would have still pitched in this series.

If you're willing to pull him in the 2nd with 1 out, why even start Hammel when you know he has been bad?
