I'll feel much better about the Cubs chances when Rizzo & Bryant start hitting. Hope Jake bounces back from his game 3 NLDS performance. Oh, and Daniel Murphy...seriously? Time to wake up from your dream run and remember your lifetime 109 wRC+

Yeah, that was like 1 inning, Arrieta allowed good contact in Pittsburgh. He was as dominant as ever in that game.

Might have to wait until game 3 for Bryant - dude's got something in his head about hitting on the road vs. home.

I'd start Coghlan tonight.

Coghlan instead of Bryant? It'll never happen.

Should we worry about facing Thor or deGrom?

deGrom imo. I think Snydergaard has more upside in his career but deGrom is a better pitcher now, plus the whole thing about Snydergaard throwing 100+ pitches in the pen/mound on Thursday, talk of him having a sore arm, young pitcher greatly exceeding innings limit, etc

Sorry, those were two separate thoughts.

Coghlan over Soler.

I mean, what was the general opinion on yesterdays game leading up to it? Did we really expect to win or was it just afterglow from the NLDS? Being 7-0 against them in the reg season probably led us to be too confident, and Harvey just pitched well. I want a bounce back win

I expect to win the series, yesterday I had no feel. Really yesterday doesn't matter all that much with a win today. We did our job with a split, overall we had our chances and beat ourselves more than they beat us last night. I feel really good moving forward. We are a better team

Maddon looked concerned yesterday, that's the only thing that really bothered me about the loss

He looked more like he was evaluating things/feeling them out to me, not wanting to make over reactions. His look of concern, if that's what u want to call it, probably was partly due to being pissed at the errors and decisions that cost runs on offense and defense.

I dont think deGrom pitched that well, he gave up 6 hits and 3 BB in 6 innings. The Dodgers couldn't make it count, but he still wasn't all-worldly. Hopefully Thor is cold and tired and the Cubs bats catch up to him

He really didn't give up that much hard contact in the WC game. It was just all clustered together in a couple of key situations, so that's what people remember.

I don't have the game log in front of me, but I remember thinking "thank god that was hit right to him" more than once

Jake has looked somewhat human his last two outings. Maybe it's the long season or just facing better teams. I hope it's the latter as this Mets lineup looks more beatable then the Pirates or the Cardinals

What Kyle is pointing out is that those few bits of hard contact came after Arrieta retired like 14 of 15 to start the game. When a team squares you up 5 times in 9 innings, it's tough to say they hit into bad luck just because those 5 were all in a 2 inning span.
