@ctcf..... assuming the CUBS hold on here, you think you can get tomorrow's game thread up by midnight ?

He's not actually supposed to be starting them. tree is technically still the active thread starter. He started the 2nd doubleheader which the Cubs won two nights ago, but didn't post the thread yesterday (or today).

But we're winning, so.....

nope.

the guy who starts a winning game thread is the active thread starter. You cede your spot and your start is gone.

Fair enough. Just thought when Fred spot starts and says "Win lose or rainout" and suggests the guy who missed it starts the next game regardless was the law of the land.

I was going to be happy with a split. Taking the final 3 here is phenomenal.

Does make that first one sting a bit, but can't be too upset.

Indeed, but they went into Pittsburgh in a playoff-like atmosphere and took care of business. Have to be thrilled with that.

Really good road trip

Went 2-1 against the Cards, 2-2 against the Phillies, and 3-1 against the Pirates.

I know it's frustrating since we had a chance to win the 4 games we lost, but 7-4 is still pretty darn good.

The schedule's flipped at this point and I think we have an easier path the rest of the way than the Pirates

All our games are either in Wrigley or nearby in Milwaukee/Cincy where there will be a bunch of Cubs fans.

I'm fine with Wood batting there, especially if he's used for the 9th.

It certainly ended up making sense. Wood was great today.

Yeah, that's pretty much the way it works..... but this time around I didn't say that. Instead, since it was almost CT's turn anyway, I let him go with. So instead of CT following you, you'll follow CT.

Not sure if someone has mentioned this elsewhere, but by winning today the Cubs earned the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh if they tie for the first wild card. The Pirates have to win it outright to play in PNC National Forest.

Also, for the people freaking out about playing at PNC in a one game series...we just took 3 of 4 there. Relax. The Cubs have got this.

While I certainly wouldn't freak out, it is worth noting that the Pirates are 50-25 at PNC and 37-34 on the road. You want that game at Wrigley.

Of course you want the game at Wrigley..... but still, the CUBS are 6-4 at PNC Park

Believe we went 6-4 for the season against them at PNC including that frustrating series in May that we dominated but somehow split

Remember.... the Wild Card game will be played on a Tuesday, and the CUBS are 15-9 (.625) on Tuesdays.

Go CUBS !!

Pretty sure it's on a Wednesday

God I hope that's right. I teach on Tuesday nights. And they're giving speeches so it's not like I can give them an "out of class assignment" instead of holding class.

It wasn't always smooth, but the Cubs went 7-4 on a critical 11-game trip (shoulda been 9-2) and 5-2 against STL and Pitt, I'll take that!
