Nationals already up 4-0 on the Cardinals. Pirates down 5-0. WIN THIS DAMN GAME. Do it for me.

Why do the Cardinals still matter? The Pirates barely do

Jesus, you're not even trying to hide it anymore.

Man if you were the U.S. hockey coach in 1980 your pregame speech would probably be "Guys you aren't going to win so don't even try"

Yeah, I'm a glass half empty dude so I've stopped caring about those two. I'm left panicking about the Giants and Nats, simply because I don't trust the Cubs not to let them back in.

The Cardinals are 10.5 ahead with like 32 games left

Only a Cardinals fan would possibly be this constantly defensive about anyone daring to root for the Cubs to pick up any amount of ground on them.

I'm getting pretty pissed at this offense right now.

Yeah something about scoring 2 runs or less in 5 of our last 6 games, enroute to 6 of 7 and the one game we scored more than 2 runs we lost by 7 runs is kind of angering.

I thought the Cubs turned the corner in August and the young hitters were figuring stuff out, but it's starting to look like we're just streaky as [expletive]. Rizzo couldn't hit his way out of a paper bag for 5 weeks then all the sudden he's on fire for 3 weeks and now has been terrible again for 2 weeks. Bryant was anemic in July and awesome in August, etc

The Cubs' top priority should be winning (as it always should be). No use worrying about teams we probably won't catch.

Of course, the simple task of beating the lowly Reds is proving to be a challenge so far.

Bad quick hook on Haren, though he probably wouldn't have gotten out Bruce or Votto either. But an even worse double switch. Only switched one spot and put in an inferior fielder and hitter.

This is like exhibit A of how fans of Chicago sports teams are terrified babies. You're acting like wanting to gain some ground on the Cardinals, even if ultimately it's nothing more than a symbolic victory, is some kind of cursed blasphemy that nobody should root for because their chances of actually catching them are so slim.
