Haren and Coghlan batting 3rd isn't very pretty.

Coghlan is the worst kind of productive player. He's sneakily good enough that he forces the manager's hand to deny us a truly awe-inspiring lineup.

And you guys are all crazy. Watching the Cubs magic number dwindle this month is going to be awesome.

 

far be it from me to complain about having a good chance to make it to the wild card game, but (hopefully) watching a number dwindle to zero so we can play one road game against a superior team for the chance to make the real playoffs doesn't fill me with joy. if we make it to and then lose the wild card game, i'm not going to feel demonstrably better than if the giants and dodgers get crazy hot and we miss the wild card game despite winning 88.

i didn't even say we were going to miss the wild card game or even necessarily lose it!

 

bombastic tree is on the shelf until we start alternating 6 and 9 game win streaks again (or win the wild card game).

 

dark tree is on the shelf until we lose the wc lead. or until the night before the wild card game. that is going to be a brutal night.*

 

 

*if it happens, middle tree takes nothing for granted
