Id love to see if there's any evidence that facing elite starters on consecutive days can throw a team off and put the offense into a slump.

In June the Cubs were a few days away from winning 17-0, and just scored 8 runs against the twins and then faced Kershaw and Greinke and then scored 9 runs in their next 7 games and was in an offensive funk for the next 5-6 weeks.

I'm sure it's a meatball theory but damn if we aren't seeing the offense slump since facing Bumgarner and Kershaw

In tonight's case Lorenzen sucks but has a good fastball. The first time through the order it will work but his secondary pitches suck and you can't go through a big league lineup multiple times with just a fastball. Dongs incoming.

I don't mean to sound insensitive or whatever, but I get kind of an Adam Lanza vibe from Lorenzen. The shape of their faces have some similarities.

Last hit with RISP was Starlin Castro off Madison Bumgarner on Thursday. Since then 0-21

As a Stats grad student, I will say that 0-21 is way too long of a drought to be entirely random.

CUBS are 50-23 (.685) when they hit at least 1 HR.... 24-32 (.429) when they don't

CUBS are 54-13 (.806) when they score first in the game.... 20-42 (.323) when they don't

He called it "Banks' Alley."

My dad and I are going to be able and say those two words and make each other crack up until the day one of us croaks.
