Maddon gave him a shot and he failed. Why do we only have 2.5 dependable starters?

3 runs allowed is fine but Hendricks cannot even give us more than 5 IP most of the time lately.

We get it: You don't like Hendricks. But, he has given us at least 5 innings in 25 of 27 starts this year. He is perfectly fine as a 4th starter.

Funny thing is that I don't hate Hendricks, I think if has better command he can be an effective pitcher.

I do think a 4th starter on a playoff should do better than averaging 5.2 innings per start though

That's 5.70 not 5.2

He can't miss bats. That not a position where he will succeed regularly.

His K% is higher than the league average.

His swing and miss numbers are well below average. I like Hendricks enough and he's a solid #4. Hindsight and all I still make the move Joe made becaus Phillips sucks.

I'm using 5.2 = 5 2/3 which is roughly 5.7

5.2=5.66.

Anyway, what's his number since the start of August?

What a strange defensive alignment. They created a huge hole, still on Schwarber's pull side. The SS could've been holding Russell close while playing on the first base side of second. I'll take it.

Eh, he's top 70 in baseball in innings per start. That's about 3rd starter caliber.

Ok I have to admit being wrong here then. I would have assumed that was rather poor. I probably notice it more because Hendricks, Hammel, and Haren have all struggled to go more than 5 innings lately.

Thanks for correcting me

Well, he is a control/command pitcher that can paint the corners. And a called third strike works the same as a swinging one. The fact is: He strikes out guys at a higher rate than the league average. So that means they aren't putting the ball in play against him more than league average. There is no way to spin it that he is going to have more bad-luck sequencing... just because. And, not to mention, he gives up a below league average amount of hard contact, and he gets a ton of ground balls. So you are just wrong.
