I get why you did this. But I want you to take a step back and realize that finding and bumping this thread again just makes you look like a vindictive SOB to a crowd that already keeps you at arms-length.

i think when people insult you for weeks and later on they are proven wrong its valid to remind them that they were wrong

also when you make like 5 threads a week with off the wall ideas, one of them is bound to happen

also castro has been so so bad that we just have to get him out of the lineup somehow

I don't really have a problem with you bumping this thread, but that's probably a dangerous game for you to play.

I don't know, read through the thread at some of the insults he received for this suggestion. Personally I still think Coghlan at 2B is a really bad idea, but if I were Sontensei I'd be rubbing it in a little bit too.

It's a still a move being made on the decision to keep Schwarber's bat in the lineup. That doesn't make it smart. The Cubs' issues over the last couple months has been scoring runs. This is about optimizing the lineup just for that. The defense will likely not be amazing at 2B or LF, but they're punting that in favor of runs scored. And just cause they're doing this once doesn't mean it will be a recurring thing.

Plus you made this suggestion on the basis that Addison Russell sucks so don't go giving yourself a beej for thinking you're smarter than everyone else when just a week and a half later you're signing Russell's praises. You're as fairweather as they come and your suggestions are kneejerk nonsense.

So you can sit here and fellate your own ego all you want, but you're just a fool who throws chicken little nonsense around all over the place, and when one of your several dozen lunatic ideas actually happens you act like you're King Swinging Dick of NSBB. So pump the brakes, guy. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

This idea was never too far off the wall because it's Joe Maddon and he has subbed Coghlan in at 3B and 2B a few times this year. What get people annoyed with sontensei is he/she is ridiculous. Constantly talking about how every young player sucks and should be traded. It's tiring and I don't care if English is your first language or your twelfth language, it's just annoying. So, props on calling this move. You should tell us who you'd trade Kris Bryant for next.

sontensei, I just like to point out I did not attack you in this thread and I fully support you as the new overlord of NSBB. I've always believed in you! SONTENSEI SONTENSEI SONTENSEI

Remember when that one dude kept suggesting we offer Maholm to teams after getting them on the phone for Garza and then it really did go down that way?

or when sweet swingin billy called hendry and left a message with his secretary, and two days later we got harden

Or when we kept telling davearm that targeting Epstein proved we would never consider a rebuild?

Wait?! Is that username still available?

I enjoyed seeing this bumped for a lot of reasons. And after watching Schwarber look like Willie Mayes compared to the routes Soler has been taking on balls (and seeing him beat out a dead to rights pickoff somehow) ...this idea is far from insane. Cog can be Maddon's new Zobrist and the team will be better for it. I know it's cool to defend Castro from all the meatheads that have been gunning for him his entire career...but he has been beyond aweful this year. Neifi aweful with worse defense. That is not an exaggeration. Ponder that.

This is no longer the case. Bash away. No matter what Mojo tells you.

Or we can listen to inability to admit that you were wrong on this one. Coghlan didn't stink and the Cubs won. Now pull up your pants and wipe off your chin. The sky didn't fall.

Yes. Okay, I'll admit defeat because in one game Coghlan didn't kick the ball around while Yakety Sax played in the background. If you actually pay attention, I said the lineup decision was about scoring runs and that the defense wasn't going to be amazing. Not committing errors =/= amazing defense.

Also, Coghlan only had two chances the entire game and he was replaced after 5 innings with Herrera. You're seriously gonna claim victory because Coghlan had two grounders hit at him in 5 innings and he didn't boot them?

We scored 7 runs. I'd say I was as much right as you claim I wasn't.

So here we are, some weeks later and what happened?

Annnnd i guess Joe Maddon is an idiot too!

You are actually going to beat your chest and bump your thread where you suggested Addison Russell be benched? OK.

i think this is a 100% deserved thread bump after how much he was ridiculed for the idea.

I just ridiculed him for spelling "experiment" wrong, and using a word that means something completely different.

Meh. Castro's decline just sucks for the Cubs; they were clearly counting on him to either produce or be a valuable trade asset. It's odd that certain people are delighting in it, seemingly rooting for him to fall as far as possible, and gleefully siding with the meatballs that never liked him at all. Nobody's denying that he's been terrible this season, but it's weird how much pleasure his badness seems to bring some fans. Obviously I'm a big fan of his and I don't expect everyone else to be, but it's not like he was someone brought in who busted or a lousy rent-a-player; you've got meatballs clamoring for his failure despite him being on of the very few bright spots during shitty post-2008 seasons.

The idea was brought about because he thought both Castro and Russell sucked and needed to be replaced, not because he wanted Schwarber's bat in the lineup to help the offense, which is why it happened last night (and which he mentioned merely as a byproduct of getting Russel and/or Castro out of the lineup, not the reason for it).

To be honest I think on that weird fly ball in the first or second that Soler called for and then it dropped, if Russell had been at 2B I bet he would've made the play. But the Coghlan experiment did work.
