So Jaxon is out as a Saturday starter and if he goes 3 innings he probably can't piggyback Wood either. What exactly are we going to do there? Granted, it's STL throwing Wacha against whatever we send up there, so it's halfway to a white-flag game already.

Kinda like Kershaw and Greinke?

Hammel started one of those games, so that was hardly 'white-flag'.

I long for the day when batters don't have to adjust their approach based on the whims of the homeplate umpire. Edited by Ski

If Gamecast it to be believed, the first 2 strikes to Coghlan were near the Cubs dugout.

Correct. The second one nearly clipped Maddon.

I know I exaggerate a lot, but this has to be close to the toughest game to watch this season. It's not like this crappy lineup is even being shutdown, they just can't get a ball to find a gap or land into the basket and then when they need the big hit they get a K or guy thrown out at home.

That's baseball.

Doesn't make it any less frustrating, though.

10 base runners in 5 innings, 0 runs. Facepalm.

2010 was the last time the Cubs ranked outside the bottom 6 in baseball in average with RISP. Granted, we've had bad teams, but you'd think just by dumb cluster luck we'd have snuck outside that at some point.

Anyone else annoyed at the Dodgers announcers talking about how last night was such a "must win" for them? Meanwhile we have a better record and are about to be 8 games out of first.

I wouldn't have been super disappointed at splitting this series before it began but I never imagined that we did split it would be the Kershaw and Greinke games we won.

Also, 7 runs in a 4 game series, but we split. Crazy
