This is one case where Montero's bat in the lineup should outweigh the Ross/Lester relationship

Day game after a night game. 90% of catchers get this day off all the time.

Eh. Lineup complaints are overblown. The Cubs go as Rizzo and Bryant go. The other guys in the lineup won't get completely shutdown. But if Rizzo and Bryant don't each get a couple hits, extra base hit, and/or on base a couple times....the Cubs should be able to score 4+ runs.

We knew Ross was going to be Lester's catcher before he was even signed, so I don't get the complaining every time he catches him. And the Cubs have been unfortunate enough to have every one of their projected bench players miss most of the year, combine that with a day-to-day injury, and the birth of a baby, a couple struggling/injured prospects, and you have this.

But again, Rizzo and Bryant are enough to carry this offense, with the way the Cubs have pitched most of the year.

I didn't know that about Ross so I reserve the right to complain about him at any time. But for the record I am not currently complaining.

True. But If it was anyone but Lester, I doubt Ross would be in there

Yikes, that's not a pretty Cubs lineup, but at least the Dodgers were kind enough to sit Puig, Gonzalez, and Pederson.

Does anyone know the reason that MLB network has a vendetta against taking the Cubs feed?

Last year it seemed like they were doing it a lot. Maybe they're course-correcting.

Something to do with lack of partnership with ABC7?

Entirely possible.

I'm willing to consider that Lester had the struggles that pitchers sometimes have in the first inning and that he can still have a great game by shutting the Dodgers down over the next six innings.

I'd go so far as to say he probably will, but he's now given up 9 runs in 15 first innings, and it'd be nice to see that come down. Falling behind early is no way to live.
