I could be off by a year on the cutoff. But I do think that the buffer is only a year. But in that case 367 days is treated the same as 730, which in teen development years is pretty big in terms of social and emotional development.

 

I'm no expert in any way, but isn't that highly individual?

 

I kinda felt like once i got my license and a girlfriend the summer before my junior year (she was a grade younger but one of the younger people in that grade, so i might be one of the scumbags goony is talking about) i was pretty much the same guy from then until i graduated.

Truthfully I'm not sure how the law is written though. If it's based on just a days thing you wouldn't get quite that odd switching of legality. Anyways this is indeed a huge tangent because seriously if there was any question of the women's age, Kane is a mega-huge scumbag.

Hypothetical: 16 is age of consent, but a "one year" buffer where 16/15 is okay, however isn't defined in strictly day terms.

 

P1 born Feb 1 1998.

P2 born Jan 1 2000.

 

Jan 2, 2014 = legal 15/14

Feb 2, 2014 = illegal 16/14

Jan 2, 2015 = legal 16/15

Feb 2, 2015 = illegal 17/15

Jan 2, 2016 = legal 17/16

 

Unless of course that year buffer or whatever it is more specifically defined to be exactly 365 days rather than simply "age-in-years". Of days are strictly defined as the buffer or there is no buffer but age of consent is an absolute, it's still legally strange because apparently minors can consent with eachother until one is "of age".

 

Either way I'd doubt the actual impact of these situations like this. Sounds like the same type of scare tactic as "girl makes up rape".

Sounds like the reporters have heard more than they're reporting, but are making sure they have all of their facts lined up with their attorneys' approval.

You know John McDonough and the Blackhawks are beyond pissed right now, whether he gets charged or not. They were pissed at Crawford for getting drunk at the Rise Against concert and getting hurt.

Yeah even if there are no charges filed, everyone will assume he paid her off or she didn't choose to go after him because of the media hoopla involved.

 

The only way that Kane gets through this relatively unscathed is if the DA or police publicly announce that Kane is completely cleared of any wrongdoing and this was a baseless accusation.
