Not even Tallon would take Bickell?

Why would anybody take him?

He's only had a brief period of solid play, has a huge contract and is suffering from vertigo.

That brief period happened to be when it mattered most. "Playoff Bickell" was MIA this year in terms of goals but casual fans will remember him as the guy that had a great run during the playoffs. Also, there are teams that value big guys that hit people. Someone, somewhere is making the argument that Bickell hitting people helped win the Ducks series. Finally, there are teams that need to rweach the cap floor. Getting a guy with Bickell's potential for a draft pick wouldn't be a bad move if he were healthy. Once he can show that, they'll be able to find a taker. If he can't they might be able to LTIR him.

The matters most stuff is noise and there probably aren't as many dumb teams that can be fooled by that stuff. The cap floor stuff is also probably not as much of an issue as when it was introduced. Nobody wants garbage like Bickel just to get to the minimum.

Agreed. And taking back that money means Oduya is gone too right? Daley is decent but would rather have Oduya obviously.

Dallas is retaining 50 percent of Garbutt's salary.

So with the Stars keeping half of Garbutt's $1.8M cap hit, the trade frees up less than $2M in cap space for the #Blackhawks.

i can't believe how much one season destroyed sharp's value.

Daley sucks. Garbutt can kill penalties and has some speed. He's also a dirtbag.

Oh dear

@BrianHedger: If #Blackhawks don't sign Oduya, because of Daley, look for Oduya to maybe sign in Dallas. Was looking there before waiting for CHI offer

meh. i've kind of assumed oduya will be gone anyways. he's about to turn 34 and he was pretty bad at times this season. i'd love to have him back, but i think he'd have to leave a significant amount of money on the table. so far, hjalmarsson has been the only guy to actually do that.

Pretty shocking that this was the best they can do for Sharp. This trade will be even worse since it could potentially cost them another useful but too expensive player. At SCH, the click-bait guy wrote an article today about trading Shaw. That seems less far fetched unless they can dump these guys on someone else for virtually nothing.

I saw elsewhere it being said that the Hawks were saving around $2.5mil.

I saw a mention a few weeks ago that Shaw might be moved for the right offer, as they think Hartman can fill his role.

I'm guessing the Hawks waive Garbutt. If someone claims him they save another $900k. If he passes through waivers the Hawks will still have to pay him but save him entire $900k salary against the cap. This is essentially what they did when they traded Campbell for Rust-eez but under the new CBA, any salary over $900k counts against the cap even if the guy spends the whole season in the AHL.

It's really been 1.5 seasons, he was bad in the 2nd half of 2014 too. Told you Sharp's value was shot.

Oduya will not be back with the Blackhawks according to his agent.

I'm pretty sure Bowman really wanted him back but couldn't save more money on a Sharp deal.

So far...

Losses: Saad, Sharp, Richards, Raanta, Vermette, Oduya, Rozival, Timonen

Still in the air: Carcillo, Kruger, Cumiskey, Rozsival

Resigned: Nordstrom, Desjardins

Gains: Dano, Anisimov, Morin, Daley, Garbutt

They'll re sign Kruger, even if it means trading Shaw.

Also apparently the Hawks championship DVD comes out tomorrow.

Mine should be delivered any minute. Looks a lot better than the 2010 and 2013 one(which was digital only)
