It's getting to the point where the 15 day DL should just be treated as a 45 day DL with the way we treat players.

Soler's been out of a boot for several days, and has even said he feels like he'd be ready to return the day he's eligible to come off. They're probably taking it extra cautious with him. Don't think he needs a rehab stint though. No reason not to just put him back in the lineup when he's ready. You don't need a AAA start to prove your sprained ankle is healed. Unless they want him to work on some things with his swing...

There's plenty of reason to send him on a rehab assignment instead of just throwing him out there. There is a reason spring training exists. And if you are out of the game for 2+ weeks with a walking boot that would make it impossible to stay on top of drills for a good amount of that time, you need to get some swings in.
