They won six in a row and then slumped afterward in Arizona, now we're back on the upswing, but things aren't going well tonight so far. And despite the Cubs and Pirates being projected for similar win totals preseason, we're bouncing around five games above five hundred while the Pirates win 18 out of 23. Years of watching this team have shown us that the Cubs rarely go on a tear when they need to. It happened in the 2007 and 2008 playoffs and it's happening now when the Cubs really need to keep pace with the Cardinals and Pirates, who are both immune to losing all of a sudden. There's no quantifiable explanation for it, and it's incredibly frustrating.
