that check swing call is going to cost Arrieta 10+ pitches, stinks since he had really gotten back on track after the 1st.

Did they ever show a side view of this? Looked like a swing from the CF cam, and it turned out to be a pretty big call.

I mean, it can still happen this year, but the Cubs are Pirates are evenly matched on paper yet the Pirates are the ones going on a [expletive] tear. Why not us?

The Pirate are 10-3 in June.

The Cubs are 8-5.

What are you babbling about.

Well, the Pirates have won 18 of 23

This is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen posted here.

How so? I'd call that a "tear." While the Cubs have been playing good baseball, they haven't been clipping at that ridiculous pace.

Man, Bryant hasn't donged since May 26th.

I was just gonna say, despite being on such a hot streak he seams to not be getting quite enough lift on the ball.

The guy was talking like the the Pirates are just going nuts right now, when the reality is that in the current month up to today the two teams aren't playing that far off at all.

What I'm saying is that my arbitrary sample size was way less strange than yours.

Yeah, that was my point. It's probably selection bias, but the Cubs can never seem to get hot when they need to be. They won six in a row and then slumped afterward in Arizona, now we're back on the upswing, but things aren't going well tonight so far. And despite the Cubs and Pirates being projected for similar win totals preseason, we're bouncing around five games above five hundred while the Pirates win 18 out of 23. Years of watching this team have shown us that the Cubs rarely go on a tear when they need to. It happened in the 2007 and 2008 playoffs and it's happening now when the Cubs really need to keep pace with the Cardinals and Pirates, who are both immune to losing all of a sudden. There's no quantifiable explanation for it, and it's incredibly frustrating.

The Cubs are 1 game behind the Pirates, you weirdo. They're both 7-3 for their last 10 going in to today.

This is such a bizarre way to look at a baseball season.

Yea Ski I like you but I have no idea where you're coming from with this one.

Just irrationally venting at all the bad luck we've seem to had over the years.
