That sadness is some big time sadness.

Fowler is still boring as [expletive].

Montero's Twitter is the Bimbo Bread of Twitter comedy.

That is all.

There's still plenty of time for Soler. Castro, on the other hand, will likely fluctuate between replacement level and average for the rest of his career.

Based on what exactly?

I never lower myself to the level of single year contract guys.

[expletive], Soler and Castro are bumming me out.

don't freak out. average shortstops are easily the equal of william dawes or even samuel otis.

you realize he has had exactly one season out of 5 at that level of performance (not counting what he's doing this year, obviously), right?

all i know is that he can't afford to be bad at hitting because he ain't exactly andrelton simmons.

is there inherent risk in carrying an everyday shortstop that's not good at anything? because i think the risk would be not trading him for an injury risk at pitcher at this point. not much trade value in a negative war ss that's just ok in the field.

Your Montero hatred is weird.

Don't hate him at all; I just don't get the Twitter thing where people act like he's hilarious. He sounds like somebody's really boring cousin.

But I like him like as a baseball player, even if he is kind of just a guy.

It's cool; I don't expect everything to live up to my lofty expectations.

And hey, maybe all of the good stuff isn't being posted here; I'm the weirdo who has never actually used Twitter.

So we're going to ignore that last year he was on pace for 3.5fWAR, which would have made him 5th for all qualified shortstops, and instead focus only on 144PAs this year.

Since I'm far too lazy and stupid to remember/look it up, are Starlin's struggles this year in any way worryingly reminiscent of trends during his bad season?

Last year he started pulling the ball more often and it led to a bit of a power surge. This year he has gotten extremely pull happy. He's rolling over or missing everything on the outer half. Absolute best thing he could do is start going the other way with the ball.

Thanks. I remember the running meme his bad year was that everyone was trying to make him more patient and it was backfiring.
