What batting order do you like if/when this happens?

Fowler

Bryant

Rizzo

Soler

Montero

Baez

Castro

P

Russell?

Since the Cubs have used 28 different batting orders in 39 games played so far, this is probably a pointless exercise.

Also because it doesn't really matter all that much

Fowler (1), Rizzo (3), Russell (9), pitcher spot (8) and now Bryant (2) have been pretty much set in stone, so it's still worthwhile to consider future lineup dynamics even though there's been constant rotation 5-7 and what would be changed by Baez's reinsertion into the lineup

this couldn't be further from the truth

with this many good hitters and a competent manager, i think it's pretty much a waste of time and energy to worry about how it shakes out. you know he's not going to do anything criminally dumb, either way.

truth be told, with the hitters we have even the least optimal lineup can't be that bad compared to the optimal one.

Rizzo and Bryant have moved around. Fowler and Russell, yes...although I wouldn't be shocked to see Russell move by the end of the season.

who's wasting energy worrying? he's simply asking "what lineup would you like to see?"

we're all basically sitting here with 10,000s of posts on a forum about a sport we like to watch and the question arises about strategy you'd like to see employed- it seems silly and needlessly dismissive to just reflexively shoot it down & say, "doesn't matter, who cares" because you happen to think it's largely intangible

Or because of the poster who posed the question in the first place. You can believe that lineup order has zero impact on the game, but as sneaky said, if there's anywhere in the world to discuss it, it's here.

eh, the last 11/13 games, Bryant's hit 2nd & Rizzo's hit 3rd, with a 2-game interruption where they swapped

Isn't it usually Rizzo 2 and Bryant 3 against lefties and Bryant 2 and Rizzo 3 against righties so they go either R-L-R or L-R-L at the top of the order?

I hope he keeps improving so that he forces our hand in finding him a spot, because I am tied to him a bit and want to see him on the team the next few years, struggles and all. But I have a feeling he's getting traded.

Better than 10% walk rate and a 23.6% k rate. With a .237 IsoP.

Bring that to the majors with plus defense and baserunning and you have a star at most any position on the diamond.

contact rate in that span (or if we can at least just find a may split?)

Can't find the May split, but his overall contact rate is 68.7% (24 games, 103 PA). That includes only 14 more PA than the above-referenced sample.

He's fixed, trade Castro.
