It's been a lot of fun wondering what Joe Maddon will do next.

But I can't help wondering how much angst we'd feel if Rick Renteria had done similar moves. I justified Bryant in center myself last night thinking with the spacious dimensions of PNC he'd be less likely to run into a wall or a teammate running down a fly ball. But if Renteria had done the same thing, I'd have probably been nervous Bryant would pull a hammy slipping on the wet field.

Are we giving Joe too much of the benefit of the doubt?

Probably? I'm fine with Bryant in CF, but was kind of surprised at the lack of response to pulling one of our best hitters so Travis Wood can pinch run, and only then when it became a 3-2 count.

that's always justifiable to me, because if we reach the point where that matters it's a good thing, but i realize that might not be the most nuanced way to view the situation

I get that it's worth pulling out the stops to get a tie because if you don't then the game's over anyway. But my opinion is the odds of a specific outcome in Bryant's(+) PA(s) resulted in Wood scoring(i.e. a specific double or BB followed by a specific single to score Wood only), but not Rizzo were so small as to not cancel out the risk of running a pitcher out to LF, along with whatever tradeoff you do to Bryant by stopping the game to sub Wood at 3-2

JEEZ, you were griping when they weren't living up to "every win is sacred," and now that they're actually acting like it YOU'RE STILL COMPLAINING. Nothing makes you happy.

That was the weirdest part for me. Was Bryant more likely to hit a double in a 3-2 count or something? Was he thinking the slight delay would work in their favor and against the pitcher? What the hell happened there?

i assumed wood was getting loose or something for the first few pitches of the ab. if anything, having a fast runner at 1st would be less important on a 3-2 pitch.

so bryant is apparently a better CF than denorfia??

Or because of the weird dimensions of PNC, Joe feels that LF is harder to play there.

Whatever the case may be at least KB has a cannon if there is play at 3rd

Would he have less of a cannon if there is a play at other bases?

that's kind of my thinking about the current roster makeup. if hendry had sent out an 8 man bullpen with three catchers, every thread on the board would be rage, especially after a game like last night where it really mattered.

Heard somewhere between last night and now that Bryant feels more comfortable in center than the corners at this point.

#Cubs @KrisBryant_23 would've played 1B Wed night if tied game. "That would've been cool to play 3 positions in one game."

Bryant is our personal android.

Would really love if CF was the backup plan to 3B. Bryant probably wouldn't be a particularly good defensive CF but he probably wouldn't be a terrible one either.

670 being really stupid right now, but they say bryant likes CF more, and the only play he fears is "the low line drive". apparently the group think in chicago is that LF is the hardest OF position to play at PNC

it doesn't benefit us one bit to [expletive] announce that to the [expletive] other teams that we're playing

He specifically said he prefers CF.

Vogelbach enters today leading @SLeagueBaseball in AVG (.432), hits (19), OBP (.519), SLG (.705) and TB (31), also 2nd in 2B (6) & XBH (8).

his surname is actually Soler but i mistake the two all the time

Look, I just want an OF so amazing it induces me into a joy-coma on a regular basis. Is that too much to ask?
