Russell is 8 for his last 25 with 2 doubles and 2 HR, .320/.346/.640. 9/1 K/BB but progress is progress.

I feel like Kyle, but he's got a 2% walk rate and 45.5% K rate with a .381 BABIP. I find it strange that he immediately stopped walking when he got traded to the Cubs last year.

70% contact for the last week, this is something you basically expect to suffer with from the youngest player in the league and his track record doesn't give much reason for concern

If he qualified, Russell would be 9th among 2Bs in wOBA. .343/.378/.657/1.036 during his hitting streak.

And he's driving the ball now.

To the opposite field to boot

If you delete april from his season the hashline is

AB

47

Avg

.319

OBP

.347

SLG

.553

BB/K

2/18

His K rate is still real high but its pretty nice overall.

Anyone have his K and BB numbers in that stretch?

from Brett at BN:

after his first week in the big leagues – at 21 years old, with almost no experience above AA – Addison Russell has been fantastic.

Indeed, after that first week, Russell is hitting .284/.346/.500 with a .367 wOBA and a 130 wRC+.

That was written confusingly. I wish he'd said "excluding his first week". As written it sounds like Russell has only been up for a week.

Russell has started 27 games, so let's divide it into thirds.

First 9 games: .206/.229/.382, 3% BB%, 49% K%

Next 9 games: .294/.333/.471, 6% BB%, 36% K%

Last 9 games: .258/.343/.452, 11% BB%, 26% K%

Hah, when I read it that was exactly what I thought and then figured I was doing a really poor job of keeping track of time if it's only been a week.

And my second thought is "oh, he means a month", but the numbers didn't match up. Then I realized he was excluding that first week.

Forget the slash lines. Watching that gap between the K and BB rate close is a sexy trend.
