Yet another guy to the DL?

I cant imagine they call up another reliever i mean the bench is short as it is..

Are all these injuries going to be the "baseball reason" our studs get called up or at least 1 of the 2 who are ready?

"Nothing real positive" according to Maddon. Guy has a history of shoulder trouble so I'm expecting the worst. Wouldn't be surprised to see that be Bryant's roster spot, though I don't think it'll happen before Saturday, and more likely Monday.

Cant stand to see Herrera out there for 3 more games. Bullpen will get an extra day rest, Ramirez's DL spot should be used on an infielder.

We still should be okay... rest of the bullpen has been pretty good and we have some guys coming back from DL stints.

If Ramirez is done for the year we could use CJ Edwards in the bullpen later if we need an upgrade.

apart from Edwards, or even perhaps Jackson? are there any other power arms in the system that suit well to late-inning high-leverage situations? Not sure Jackson does, hence I put a question mark there.

Rivero and Parker are at AAA, Rosscup is a lefty but he's a very good option if he can throw strikes. That might be a decent sized hurdle for him, but Parker and Rivero aren't control artists either.

Grimm appears to be on the mend so if he can return within a few weeks then you've still got Rondon, Strop, Grimm, and Motte from the right side in the pen, that's perfectly fine and if any of the above guys can step up, then you lose very little without Ramirez. Hopefully since we're out of Coors there can be more 6-7 IP starts so there's less work for the rest of the pen until Grimm is healthy.

Rivero's performance last year sure seemed to indicate as much, but it doesn't seem he's being held in that regard.

I could see Corey Black coming out of nowhere and being one of those guys.

i have such little regard for what it takes to be a successful reliever in today's game that i kind of think we should tell jaxon to throw as hard as he can every pitch and expect good things.

I genuinely believe Jaxon could be an extremely effective (and wildly, wildly overpaid) reliever. My basis for this belief is stuff.

so the cubs had 1 too many pitchers, they didnt announce the result of the MRI yet. However Olt was put on the DL for Bryant... assuming Ramirez injury is bad.. do they get another reliever or make up the extra pitcher with a position player? if position player, then who? what if the surprise to the call up is Russell?

I imagine that once they confirm Ramirez has to go to the DL, they'll bring somebody up like Parker for the time being. Then it will be a race to see who can return from the DL faster to get that spot, La Stella (favorite), Grimm, or even Wada.

I want to say after the game Wednesday they said they'd have his MRI results today. Hopefully it's nothing serious, but shoulder injuries of any kind are usually bad news.

Or Denorfia, you idiot.

Apparently it's just right shoulder inflammation for Neil.

I'd like to see a little more detail on that before I start breathing a sigh of relief. It's certainly better than announcing a torn labrum or something, but that's very unspecific.
