Farnsworth struck everybody out

Didn't he have control probs at times? I do know he only had one pitch, which is why Rizzo is wearing his old number now.

That said, Farnsie was a good man to have in a basebrawl.

damnit, i forgot that we suck

in 2008 we started 0-2 and then 1-3 before winning five in a row.

so we have a week to sort things out before giving up completely.

Though as David said, the bigger problem is bringing him into a close game. In Colorado. If he must be on the team, he should be strictly a garbage time pitcher.

They already had to use Motte just to get out of the 5th. There's only so many guys in the bullpen to use, and today is the first of 6 straight. The other real option was Jaxon, which probably would have resulted in further histrionics.

Honestly, down by 2 in the second half of the game isn't that high in terms of leverage. You are very likely going to lose regardless.

so was matzek missing the strike zone as hilariously terrible as the radio booth described?

Yes. He was all over the place. We didn't capitalize off of it at all (obviously).

guys, ron coomer is really really bad at color

and somehow, when he does play by play, he's 100x worse

Pat Hughes kinda sucks too, there I said it.

completely agreed, though if jonmdavis hears us say it we will likely take up residence on the bottom of lake michigan very soon.

now that dude jumped ship completely

No joke - saw him at Wrigley on opening night.

seriously though i remembered you saying that he said he just didn't like baseball anymore or something. how random that you'd run into him.

I follow him on Twitter. He does a bunch of youtube videos of Northwestern football/basketball games.

Well, he helped us get tickets after it initially sold out, so not so random. He's been getting back into the Cubs over the last year.

I am pro-Pat Hughes. You guys are butts.

I'm with the others who say he used to be good, even great. I think the last few years with Santo just kinda broke him.

Dopes, you don't have to remove your hat for God Bless America

It's weird how that song is treated like the national anthem. Everyone awkwardly stares at each other not knowing if they should sing along, stand, put their hands on their hearts, or just sit and listen.

10000000x this

I can't stand the excitement in his voice when bad things happen to us/good things to the other team. It messes with my head/expectations because any emotion I feel is based entirely on that because I am not seeing the game.

Swirsky does the same [expletive], and I can't stand it.

It's not my only complaint, but it's probably my biggest issue.

And he's worse than Chip Caray at reading the ball off the bat.

Ya, which, to be fair, might tie into my complaint.

I imagine that'll be less annoying when there's reasons for him to get excited about our team with any regularity.
