and somehow, when he does play by play, he's 100x worse

The inning before last, I thought Pat must have had to do a hasty bathroom break!

lets get 3-4 [expletive] runs jerks
Posted (edited)

or, you know, a really strong guy who has made obvious adjustments and showed a drastically uncharacteristic amount of power in spring training, very possibly (if not probably) as a result of said adjustments, is continuing said trend of hitting the ball hard.

a cf with power in addition to the speed and patience suddenly showing up for us would be a pretty [expletive] amazing thing

That's probably what is happening here. Our 25-year-old who has done nothing but suck for years did some kind of vague "adjustment" and now he's awesome, as evidenced by a couple of fly outs (and now a BB! and a SB!)

You wouldn't be getting this upset about it if you didn't know I was (probably) right.

Why not pinch hit Montero there?

It's only the 6th inning and Castillo is not someone who turns to dust against RHP

I was hoping to mature as a baseball fan over the last few years where the Cubs games didn't really matter. You know, see the bigger picture and not overreact to small sample sizes?

Didn't work. This team is infuriating me today.

If we're counting his almost home runs, then that goes down as an almost CS.

No one cares

He had a .631 OPS vs RHP last year and career .680 something. I'm not saying it was something that absolutely should happen, but when you carry 3 catchers and one hits RHP demonstrably better it seemed like an okay time to do it.
