haha, Xavier has a rec league stereotype playing C for them

It seems like that guy has been there for 20 years. I think he was on the team that beat ND 3 years ago in the tournament.

17-0 run for SMU over the last 6 minutes.

Georgia State's coach, who already tore his ACL celebrating, falling off his chair when his son hit the game winner is an instant classic.

That was epic, one of the best endings I've seen.

I yelled down goes Baylor and then everyone in the office realized I was watching via streaming...

Freaking n00b. :P

Of course, I've had these first two days of the tourney off 7 of the last 8 years. Seniority at work for the win!

Yeah, I only get three weeks vacation and it's hard to explain to the wife burning 2 of 15 days for this. Wish I could though. Now, if Purdue played during the day I would've taken one haha.

I have my own business at home, so that's fun.

And for those of you who picked Iowa St....

They don't rebound or defend well. That is poison in March.

Meanwhile, Alford's kid is trying to make people forget that he shouldn't be playing on scholarship at UCLA. He now has 8 threes and hasn't missed since the 1st half.

SMU played a very, very dumb game down the stretch. They may have been screwed on the goal-tend call, but they set themselves up for it with a really, really bad turnover, and that kid needed to be smarter about keeping his hand below the cylinder. And did Brown have a timeout to use?

UCLA is the most hate-able low seed I can recall.

i don't watch college basketball at all but this is all over my feed

is there some weird goaltending rule in college bball that i'm not aware of that makes this somehow not a goaltend?

Awful call. The. Worst. Ever. THE BALL WAS BEYOND THE RIM!

LOL not goaltending. The ball was PAST the rim. LOL

like what do these tweets even mean?

In other words, their argument is that the ball was wide of the rim to the right. For goaltending to be called on that sort of shot, the ball has to be in the cylinder (rim) or within the imaginary area above it. The tweeters are arguing that it was an air-ball and not in either of those areas. From the perspective they posted, they appear to be correct. Edited by RynoRules

If the ball totally misses the rim, it is not a goal-tend at any level. Otherwise grabbing an air ball is a goal-tend.

But the replays I watched were too close to call and looked like the ball had a chance of hitting the rim.

I think I remember glancing at the bottom line as SMU was bringing it up on their last possession and saw that they had several (I think 4) timeouts left. Perhaps they were trying to catch UCLA off guard because it seemed like a lot of guys were expecting a replay. They still probably should have called a TO once they brought it up and UCLA was in position.

From the overhead replay from the camera above the goal, it definitely looked like the ball was touched while over the cylinder.

i mean, isn't that ball clearly above the rim? is this some sort of terrible angle?

When I look at that screenshot, it looks like the ball had sailed just beyond the rim.

For sure. Plus the kids were all going nuts over the goal tend call. Why not call TO and give them a chance to regain their composure?
