Then include a vesting or club option

Better than a one year deal, but still not close to the best option for me. The one thing that Rasmus provides is the one thing the offense has in abundance, I'd rather not bet on his declining plate discipline reversing course or a fluke BABIP year like 2013 in order for him to be more than Chris Coghlan with an even less suitable skill set for this roster.

I like him more than Gomes, I guess. 2013 was one hell of an outlier for him. Geez.

Are you talking about Denorfia? And if so, you mean 2014 right?

He had 4 WAR in 2013, which was way higher than anything he'd done previously. 2014 was an outlier going the other way too though.

Have we got Maddon his quota of clubhouse dudes now hopefully?

I really hope so

another player would be nice though.

I am hoping for a Fowler/Span type of move still.

I had just taken a quick look at the offensive numbers and they looked similar to other years. Definitely an outlier with most of the extra WAR coming from defense it would appear.

His offensive rate numbers in 2013 seem in line with his previous three years. 2014 was way off low, but 2013 was not at all flukey high.

His WAR was probably higher in 2013 in large part because he got 520 PA; in his other seasons he's been 300's.

lol the Reds gave up Ben Lively for Byrd

Hahahhaha holy [expletive]

Never heard of Lively before, but judging by his numbers would this be like us trading C.J. Edwards for Byrd?

Hendricks is probably the name that evokes a closer image of Lively's ability, although not a mirror comparison.

No, he's a decent prospect, but if we had him, he'd fall in behind Vogelbach.

I was thinking Blackburn.

And I wouldn't trade any of those people for Byrd, so... lol Reds

Yeah, Blackburn with very good results through AA is pretty close.
