Maybe I'm meatballing, but I think that's what it looks like when a pro sports team gives up and doesn't care en masse.

The 20-second long screen pass that slow ass Eddy Lacy scored on is a perfect example of a team quitting.

Gah. I'd say fire everyone if it didn't happen like this against the packers every goddamned year.

At least they didn't get soulcrushed on the last play of the game.

First time team gives up 50+ in consecutive games since 1923.

Also most pts ever allowed in one half by any Bear team.

What time is the Press conference to fire Tucker?

it doesn't happen like this against the packers every year, that is where the problem lies.

I was just about to post that anyone expecting coaching changes mid-season are going to be disappointed. Massive changes in the offseason? Almost assuredly. But no way they do anything before then.

Eh. I certainly don't think they will do anything, and the Bears generally take quite a while to make changes. However, this season is very much unlike most any Bears season and George McCaskey is now the primary decision maker. He was at the helm when the decision was made to fire Jerry Angelo following 11-5 and 8-8 seasons and he was at the helm when the decision was made to replace Lovie following a 10-6 season. We're 4 years into George's reign, and 3 years into Emery's tenure and this team is as bad as it has been since at least the Jauron era and possibly Wanny.

I don't think people can say with certainty what changes they will make and when they will make them. We act as if this organization is incredibly predictable and always follows the same pattern but that isn't really the case. They've operated without a GM for huge chunks of time, have kept guys around despite multiple bad seasons and fired guys following good seasons.

Good points regarding things being different under George. I still think a change with the assistants at this point comes from Trestman. If Emery feels the need to go over his head to make the change at DC now he might as well clean out Trrestman too. So I think it would be an all or nothing prop at this point.

There is literally no reason to spend another minute watching this team this year.

Embrace the fun bad! Although this is pretty much peak anger. From here it quickly turns to apathy until the season ends.

Sucks because I was looking forward to the 5 out of 6 home game stretch all year and when it finally gets here the team is dead.

I don't know about you but my anger peaked weeks ago. I'm resigned to the sadness now.

“@billdozer32: @Ky1eLong hey Kyle, are we allowed to boo now?” Absolutely. We are trying to figure it out as you are. It's frustrating

Yeah, the anger stopped for me after the Miami game.

I for one can enjoy meaningless Bears football, especially Thanksgiving Day, that'll be neat.

Marquess Wilson is the Javy equivalent for the rest of the season. Really want to see this kid play.

What's worse, this or 2007?

I guess it depends on your definition of worse. 2007 coming off the super bowl this team was still quite talented and seemingly was just a QB away from returning to contention. This year the entire team is awful and would probably get destroyed by even that 2007 squad.

This is deep, deep rock bottom.

It's the NFL, so you can always get a lucky year in no matter who you send out there next year or whenever. But this organization looks so deeply screwed for a number of years.

I don't trust the ownership to hire a new GM/whatever, I don't trust Emery to hire a new coach, I don't trust the coach to hire new coordinators.

Cutler's arm has taken a step back this year. My fear is that the hits over the years have piled up and robbed him of his ability to execute his mechanics properly. And Cutler without an amazeballs arm is how this offense repeatedly fails to score points when the game is in doubt.

The rest of the roster is getting exposed as either old or bad or both. Marshall had clearly lost a step this year even before the latest injury. Jeffery is a good No. 2 receiver but probably overrated due to some spectacular catches. Forte is going to hit a wall soon and doesn't really do anything that defenses need to worry about. And the best long-term asset on the defense is a pretty good CB.

If you wanted to be the best team in the division next year, the list of things you need is huge:

A new coaching staff

A deep threat WR

Probably two OL

A legit second RB

An impact defensive lineman and preferably two

Two starting linebackers (maybe three)

Two safeties

A CB

An entire special teams unit.

And even that might not be enough.

tl;dr: It could take years to untangle this mess and I don't trust anybody making any of the decisions.

It could if they stick with the status quo or hire another failure. But there's no reason why it has to. I don't trust the decision makers much either, but all it takes is a decent front office boss and it won't take years to untangle the mess. They will probably be pretty bad next year but they could easily be a tough team in 2016.

Yeah, NFL turnarounds just don't take that long. Coaching is such a huge factor (relative to other sports).

I don't see the same pessimism as you Kyle. We aren't looking for wide scale changes from a talent perspective, there's still a good base. While players can take some of the blame for coverage gaffs, it's largely a coaching issue to remedy. There are some needs but mainly complimentary on O. I don't see the need for two new OL. On defense one or two impact guys in the front seven can transform it. While it is a lot to do, I don't see us at a crossroads where we have to reboot.

I sure do. Long is the only longterm option in place and probably the only guy on the line now that I'd like to see on the line in 2016. Bushrod helped stabilize things but I think he was vastly overpaid and probably only a short-term guy. They need at least one tackle and one interior linemen. Outside of Long everybody is either bad, old or bad and old.
