Brett is claiming sources saying it's done

It’s been days in the making, and the only thing holding up Chicago Cubs’ fans’ confidence that the move would happen was a history of being burned. But there has been a consensus on this for a long time, and Jon Heyman just reported it: Joe Maddon will be the next Cubs manager.

If you need additional emotional security, I’ve now been told by multiple sources that this is a done deal.

This is a big deal. This is legitimately exciting. You are allowed to be excited.

Well that settles it.

Though maybe I should wait on Hoops to confirm.

CBS says Maddon deal to Cubs is done. Very good source close to situation tell me deal is not done yet. I do believe that it gets done.

Kaplan denies widely rumored move is 'official' or 'done. Meanwhile, sun sets in west.

I mean, I get it. It sucks to finally have your dream job and then lose it, particularly after being told you were keeping it.

In the big picture though, meh. He gets paid either way and the Cubs saw an opportunity to improve and can't fault them for going after it.

I do feel for the guy. But it's not like he's going to be out on the street. And even if he was this is so great I'd be okay with it.

You'll be sorry when this sends him back to his wheelchair.

#Cubs say no deal yet with Maddon

Other sources outside #Cubs say they've not heard Maddon deal is done -- yet.

Heyman's article:

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24774093/maddon-is-to-become-cubs-manager-sources-say

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Joe Maddon is about to become the new manager of the Cubs, sources tell CBSSports.com.

Maddon and the Cubs are on the verge of agreeing to a mega deal, according to people familair with the situation.

The contract, once finalized, is expected to make Maddon one of the highest-paid managers in baseball and quite likely the best-paid in the National League. Mike Scioscia's Angels deal pays him $5 million annually, so he sets the standard.

Cubs president Theo Epstein has long been an admirer of Maddon, according to people close to the team. The Cubs intend to make a big splash in free agency, and this represents a big start.

Current Cubs manager Rick Renteria was told the team was exploring the possibility of hiring Maddon, who became a free agent after recently opting out of his Rays deal.

lol, Brett edited it to:

If you need additional emotional security, I’ve now been told by multiple sources that this is a done deal in practice, if not yet in effect.

I guess his "sources" changed their tune once his other "sources" on Twitter say it wasn't quite done yet.

We'll this is all kinds of awesome. My guess is that a lot of official sources have been told nothing is done and not to announce anything until the series is over.

Eh, I believe Brett has sources. He's been at it long enough and probably has a good enough reputation as a writer/blogger to meet people who know things.

Now Loxas on the other hand, he's full of [expletive].
