He's also inheriting 39.1 WAR from that group(quick calculation, apologies if I missed something) and Logan White. We're fucked.

Nope, and now there's no long shot hope that they'll be bad in the long-term

I'm not freaking out. We play them 6-9 times a year at most. Even if they become a 105-win perennial juggernaut (they won't) that will only help every team outside the West when it comes to the Wild Card. A 5- or 7-game series is pretty close to a coin flip anyway.

That didn't help every team outside the AL East in the wild card chase when the Yankees were at their peak. It could cause other teams in the NL West to try harder and gobble up more great players in an arms race that the Cubs will not participate in for 5 years.
