Week 7: Dolphins (2-3) @ Bears (3-3) Noon, CBS/780

That's just Khaseem Greene turning his back despite being in zone. Horrible.

DJ Williams did that too, and had a sure interception clock him in the side of the head.

On the defense, they have these games where there are just gaping holes in the middle of the field. Here is a pic Adam Hoge just posted on Twitter:

What exactly is going on there? You could draw a 12 yard circle around that dude. How exactly do you leave the middle of the field open like that? If they roll like that against Tom Brady next week, they are going to get eviscerated. If they don't turn it around soon, I hope this was just a 2 year experiment with the Trestman era.

He's really really bad.

Also the CBS guys yesterday pointed out that on the Dolphins first TD, Kyle Fuller was playing man while the rest of the defense was playing zone. While I'm obviously willing to give Fuller a break since a) he's a rookie and b) he's been awesome, just another example of the defense looking confused and ill prepared.

PFF Re-Focused Stats:

Chicago Bears – Performances of Note

Matt Forte, RB: +1.9

Breakdown: Entering this game Matt Forte was leading the league in receptions. Not among running backs – the entire league. If there was one bright spark on offense for the Bears it was Forte, and he scored both of their touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving.

Signature Stat: Caught all six passes thrown his way for 60 yards and a score.

Jared Allen, DE: -3.4

Breakdown: He may have earned himself a sack, but this was a tired looking performance from one of the league’s premier pass rushers over the past decade. Allen was controlled by Branden Albert for most of the game both as a pass rusher and run defender.

Signature Play: Q3, 0:36. Miami went in for a touchdown late in the third quarter as Albert controlled Allen and prevented him getting to the running back on the play.

Jay Cutler, QB: -2.2

Breakdown: In the never-ending rollercoaster ride of Jay Cutler, this was ‘Bad Jay’ coming to play. Cutler was inaccurate, anxious in the pocket and forcing throws at one time or other in this game.

Signature Stat: Passer rating under pressure (77.6) was almost the same as when he wasn’t (73.4), largely because he seemed pressured on plays even when the pocket was clean.

The point scored off turnovers stat this year is startling. You can't be spotting teams 10 points a game, especially when your struggling to score and have an iffy defense.

It was just brought to my attention that the Blackhawks have more wins at Soldier Field this year than the Bears.

Fantastic.

Yeah, Blackhawks were the last team to win at Soldier.

Didn't I read that Allen was benched for a lot of the 4th quarter? Willie Young was on the field a lot.

Yes, he played much less than he had in previous games and had a "ask Tucker" kind of quote when asked about it.

And they had a FG blocked on the best opportunity they had after the Cutler fumble (I believe).

David Haugh I believe said he played 12 of the 23 snaps for the Bears in the 4th and on the Dolphins 13 play TD drive in the third he only played 2 snaps.

FWIW, Kyle Long is backtracking on his comments from yesterday.

that's fine. he has enough goodwill with me to excuse his comments yesterday.

Khaseem Greene is not an NFL player. He's gotten multiple looks the last 2 years out of necessity and he's been terrible in just about every game.

PFF seems far too kind to Cutler, Greene, McClellin and Mills.

they annoyingly don't do their "Had a Bad Week" feature anymore, but i'd feel fairly safe in assuming Greene's score would be worst amongst OLBs for the week

also, it's arguable mistakes in the passing game can usually be much more damaging than mistakes in the running game, but they weigh them all equally

The offense is still the concerning part though. There was plenty of belief that the defense would still be bad. Nobody can really be surprised about anything on that side of the ball. But Trestman was supposed to be an offensive whiz.

Yep, as long as the offense was good you could ignore his other faults. But when his area of expertise is what's leading to the losses, it is a problem.

Greene is such a disappointment. Athletically he has everything he needs. Apparently its intellect that he is lacking.

A 4th round pick out of Rutgers, he's not that much of a disappointment.

I mean it in terms of his athletic ability, but yeah, he's still a 4th rounder.
